    We booked a table at Pelagos in Langebaan to celebrate my wife’s birthday with family and friends who had travelled from Gauteng. We specifically chose the restaurant for a special family occasion and drove over an hour to get there. Unfortunately, the live rugby was being played at an extremely loud volume throughout the restaurant. We asked to be moved to another section, and although the staff accommodated our request, the sound was still so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation or enjoy the celebration. It was very disappointing, especially after making the effort to organise a special birthday lunch. Had we wanted the atmosphere of a sports pub, we could have stayed in our own town instead of travelling all that way. I have no issue with showing live sport, but the volume should be appropriate for diners, or there should be a quieter section for guests celebrating special occasions. Sadly, what should have been a memorable birthday celebration was overshadowed by the excessive noise.
