We had a really unique experience with our picnic at Holden Manz, and everything exceeded our expectations, in the best possible way! Upon arriving we were asked if we'd like rosé or red wine for our basket, and got to try both before choosing, which was a very nice extra gesture. The basket contained a LOT of food, all fresh and so good that we asked for a doggy bag for what we had left. We got a large picnic blanket, two comfy pillows, and an ice bucket for our water and wine, everything one could need. To top it all off, we could then walk through vines down to a beautiful river and find ourselves the most magical and private little spot for our picnic, with the option of putting stuff on tables if needed, and with lots of trees for shade. Everything was just perfect!

The visit to Holden Manz was excellent from start to finish. We began with a wine tasting, everything explained to us by Simone in a very cheery, entertaining way. We had booked the picnic so picked up our basket, wine bucket with rose wine and water, cushions and picnic rug and took a short walk throughcthe vines to a picnic area right next to a burbling river and chose a place to sit. There are concrete benches and tables well spaced along the river, in shade and in sun or you can lay out your picnic rug on a grasdy area, all have a wonderful view of the mountains and the area is so peaceful and tranquil. The picnic food was delicious and ample portions for two people. The trout pate was my favourite but all the choices were wonderful. There is also a vegetarian option. After eating we strolled along by the river and took in the magnificent scenery before strolling back to the main winery with our picnic basket. A wonderful way to spend a laid back afternoon in stunning surroundings. We have had picnics at a couplebof the larger more commercial wineries but this will be our first choice from now on.

It seems they have gone for quantity over quality and convenience of packaging versus presentation. We really expected more than lots of things in a basketful of takeaway boxes. It's a pity, presented differently it might have been a much better experience.

We were rained out but they kindly packed up our three picnics to go! We enjoyed them on the stoop of our guest house. The winery is breathtaking, we will return!

We had a really nice picknick with lots of good food, a bottle of wine and water. We als got cushions and a blanket. We sat at the other side of the grapevines at the picknickarea with a beautiful view on the mountains. The area was next to a little river, a lot of shadow and nice stoney tables/stools to sit on. Even though we weren’t the only one’s, there was a lot of privacy. Highly recommended.

We had a very disappointing picnic at Holden Manz… Was expecting an amazing experience, seeing that it’s such a prestigious wine estate. We booked well in advance, but when we arrived, the staff seemed to be totally disorganised with providing picnic baskets and beverage buckets. We stood around for at least half an hour while they gathered the essentials and then we were told we had to carry all the supplies ( quite heavy with ice buckets and bottles of wine plus baskets of food , ground mats and cushions), to the picnic area which was quite far away from the main restaurant. We expected to find a well laid out picnic spot, but that was a pipe dream. There was very little lawn to sit on , and the ‘table’ and seating was old concrete style that could only seat 4 people ( we were a party of 6) The food was good, but the overall experience let us down. There were no staff members to bring fresh beverages snd ice , so we had to walk back to the cellar to procure these. This was no inexpensive picnic, and we expected better service all round. Will definitely seek out a better experience elsewhere.

No butter served with bread, too little bread, and hardly and meat. Otherwise pleasant, and wine is great
