Protégé is an exciting casual fine dining eatery under the guidance of previous Eat Out Chef of the Year, La Colombe’s Scot Kirton.

Scot is proud to be part of the process of recognising young talented chefs and giving them the opportunity to put themselves on the map. In keeping with this, the restaurant was aptly named Protégé.

The idea with Protégé is to keep it casual and comfortable, working with local suppliers to keep the menu as fresh and as seasonal as possible.

The restaurant space has been designed around the central show kitchen with al fresco dining planned at both ends of the restaurant.

Protégé is open for lunch from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm and for dinner from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

    Food and wine are nice but far too expensive. We are coming here for many years and noticed that the price is going fast up and up. We had the reduced menu and one of the cheapest wines and paid more then 200 euro for 2.

    Best meal we have had in South Africa if not best meal full stop. Wonderful craft, incredible ingredients and staff who make the whole experience one of absolute joy. Cannot recommend enough.

    We had the most spectacular time dining at Protege. We visited for the first time in Nov 2023 and knew we had to return - it certainly didn’t disappoint! The food was impeccable. The flavours were so well balanced and delicious. The wine was delightful and we loved the relaxed, fine dining atmosphere. We were particularly happy to see Michael serving us again - a real asset to the restaurant and a delight to be around! Do not miss this stop when visiting Franschhoek!
