Reverie Social Table is proudly South African table d'hôte style eatery located in the quirky neighborhood of Observatory, Cape Town with a focus on social dining.

Each evening, chef patron Julia Hattingh welcomes guests to sit around her bespoke 18-seater table to enjoy a five-course meal exclusively created for them, and accompanied by carefully selected wines.

Guests are encouraged to put away their cell phones and engage with one another. Perfect for those who love food, wine and great company.

Chef Julia's contemporary style is strongly influenced by the chefs that have mentored her throughout her career, respect for the food she works with, her vast travels and her home town of Cape Town with its myriad of cultures and culinary heritage.

    First time at Reverie and what a unique experience. Brilliant chef, unique set up, excellent company. I met people from all over the world snd had the most engaging conversations. Loved it! Would recommend this as a must do in Capetown.

    The experience exceeded expectations ten fold! I cannot recommend the place enough. It's an entertaining evening without entertainment, just meeting new people, eating amazing food and drinking amazing wine!

    We loved meeting people from around the world. Talking with strangers is easier with food and wine. The conversations were interesting and stimulating.

    It is not every day that you are welcomed to the personal dining table of a chef. What transpired was an evening of fellowship with new people, amazing food chosen specifically to pair with local wines, and a personalized experience. The entire evening was memorable from start to finish. It is nice to come with an open mind to try new things and get a flavor of South Africa based on the season at the time. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience but more importantly something far different than a pure restaurant as this is much more intimate and personal.

    This was a highlight of our dining experiences in Cape Town. So much more interesting than the ‘fine dining’ places that everyone talks about! Julia is a fantastic host, and we loved the relationship with the winery, the provenance of the food, and the great flavors. The ambience of strangers sitting down together was delightful. We were glad that Luke the dog made an appearance! Highly recommend.

    What an amazing experience! the food, wine, and ambiance were wonderful. We came with a big group, but I can imagine how this would be great for meeting new people in other circumstances. I would definitely do this again next time I come to Cape Town.

    Reverie was one of the highlights of our five weeks in Cape Town. Julia created a most inviting space, with the entire evening choreographed perfectly. We enjoyed incredible food, interesting wine, and made new friends from across the globe. Highly recommend!
