Reverie Social Table is proudly South African table d'hôte style eatery located in the quirky neighborhood of Observatory, Cape Town with a focus on social dining.

Each evening, chef patron Julia Hattingh welcomes guests to sit around her bespoke 18-seater table to enjoy a five-course meal exclusively created for them, and accompanied by carefully selected wines.

Guests are encouraged to put away their cell phones and engage with one another. Perfect for those who love food, wine and great company.

Chef Julia's contemporary style is strongly influenced by the chefs that have mentored her throughout her career, respect for the food she works with, her vast travels and her home town of Cape Town with its myriad of cultures and culinary heritage.

    Julia and her brigade deliver a memorial dining experience. We are lucky to have enjoyed these nights several times, in recent years. Around the social table you meet food lovers from all around the world. New friends are made over a fabulous glass of local wine, whilst Chef Julia introduces the multiple courses. Great for couples & solo travellers.

    My family and I enjoyed the most amazing evening at Reverie Social Table. The perfect combination of fantastic food; wine; service and company resulted in the most wonderful evening! The wine pairing was exquisite and we enjoyed the tasting notes from the wine expert, who joined us. By way of an added bonus, new friends were made and numbers exchanged. Our evening was a highlight of our holiday in Cape Town and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you Julia for being the most wonderful host!

    One of the most special nights out in Cape Town. Warm inviting 'family-style' dining made all of us feel like home away from home with family (we've only just met). The service was flawless and the food inspired - surprising and delightful wine pairing - thank you Julia for sharing your home, your kitchen and your passion for food with us.

    The evening, the food, the host and the service team were amazing. Great experience. Though I think it is very inappropriate to bring a dog that is obviously easily irritated to the table and it’s very odd to see its walking through the kitchen. I understand the love a owner for an animal, but this really impacted my experience negateivly.

My sincerest apologies for Luke, he is not easily irritated but that evening he was anxious after another guest screamed at him. This is not the norm and I am sorry it put a damper on your experience. As I mention at the beginning of the dinner, Luke is very much an integral part of our Reverie family and has started loosing his sight with old age so he was scared after the unfortunate incident. I can assure you he does NOT enter the kitchen and has been well trained to know this. I do hope to welcome you back again in the future and thank you again for your review.
