Nestled in the heart of Riebeek Kasteel, SAISEI is a contemporary Japanese dining destination created by chef Cheyne Morrisby. Inspired by the elements of Sea, Land, Earth, and Happy Endings, our carefully curated tasting menu invites guests on a progressive culinary journey that celebrates seasonality, craftsmanship, and discovery.

Each course is thoughtfully designed to showcase exceptional ingredients, refined techniques, and unexpected flavour combinations, blending Japanese tradition with a modern, creative approach. From the first bite to the final indulgence, SAISEI encourages guests to slow down, savour the experience, and immerse themselves in a story told through food.

Step into the world of modern Japanese cuisine with our curated Saisei four-course launch special. For just R300 per person, guests will enjoy a thoughtfully designed tasting experience. Available Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, and on Sundays for lunch only. This limited time special runs until 31 August 2026

    Just brilliant, congrats to Cheyne & team. Spectcular Japanese cuisine with so much flavour. Thank you for an afternoon where we could host our Gin tasting in your beautiful cocktail lounge and end the day with our clients with the best meal ever.

    From the moment you step into the sultry, dark ambient bar, Saisei sets a world-class mood. Siya kicked off my night with a top-notch Tokyo Sour at the bar, followed by a flawless 4-course tasting journey in the cozy dining room. The Crayfish & Caviar Bao, the Duck Croquettes and Mumbai Chilli Beef were standout dishes. All were generous portions, incredible depth of flavor, and perfectly timed service by Tatenda. Easily one of the finest culinary experiences in the Swartland!

    One of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Each course was delightful, demonstrating incredible skill and artistry. It’s a gem in Riebeeck Kasteel and worth the travel just for the experience.

    Just popped in for a quick breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast bun was delicious. “Japanese pancakes” were just normal pancakes not the really thick Japanese style ones you see online, but my wife said they still tasted good
