We had an amazing dining experience at Sauvage, with good friendly service from the whole team and a feast of beautifully presented food. We enjoyed our mains of 'Ember Crowned Cauliflower', 'Smoke of Old Vines' a tender Wagyu brisket, and a delicious fillet 'Karoo Time & Amasi'. The desserts were a real stand-out for me; 'Veld Constellations', 'Smoke in the Vineyard' and 'Boland Honey Threads' were all equally delicious and all so creatively presented. Will definitely be back.

So many good things to say about this establishment. First of all, the ambience and atmosphere in the restaurant is incredible, feels very private and quiet but also visually stimulating with the warm lighting and finishes. Secondly, the food was delicious, serving sizes were generous and even though there was a large group of people dining, the food arrived in a timely manner and I felt considered. Lastly, the staff and chef were super friendly and respectful of time and space, Chef Kyle personally came to the table after we had eaten and asked if we enjoyed our meal. I was pleasantly surprised by Sauvage and will most definitely be coming back on my next visit to franschhoek!

We had perfect & incredible evening at Sauvage. Chef Kyle’s passion really comes through here not just in the food, but in the way he takes time to visit our table and connect with us about the team and the food , was special. It adds such a personal touch to our experience. A special mention to Taryn and Amber, who looked after us with genuine warmth and professionalism. They were attentive without ever feeling rushed, and their energy made the evening even better. The food was beautifully presented, full of flavours, and the atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed. You can feel the pride the whole team takes in what they do. A truly memorable night , highly recommended.

This was our second visit to The Sauvage, and once again it was absolutely wonderful. As an early Father’s Day celebration, our son treated us to dinner, and what a special evening it turned out to be. Despite the restaurant being extremely busy, the attentiveness and warmth of the staff made us feel as though we were the only guests there. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and every member of the team contributed to making the experience memorable. The food, atmosphere, and hospitality were outstanding. Thank you to the entire team for making our celebration so special. We will most certainly be back and highly recommend The Sauvage to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. Special thanks to Chef Kyle Norris for making this a very special evening. Again worth every second.

Had a fab time at Sauvage. The food was excellent and they even provided a cheeseboard as we didn't fancy anything sweet at the end of the meal. All the staff were delightful and couldn't do enough to help you.

A year ago we were here and it was great. The food, the service and the ambiance. But we were really disappointed. But when we entered the restaurant at 6.30 pm it was dark, the curtains were closed and we were told that people like it this way. But they did open the curtain at the table where we sat down. The springbok venison my husband had was good, but the kingklip I had was very dry. The service was good but the ambiance was not nice at all. So I think that it was the last time we have come here.

Sauvage at Le Franschhoek Hotel responded on Thu 18 Jun 26:
Thank you, Annemie, for returning to Sauvage and for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. I’m very sorry to hear that your experience did not match the standard you remembered from your previous visit. The ambiance clearly missed the mark for you, and your comments on the kingklip have been taken seriously and shared with the kitchen team for immediate review. I’m glad the service and the springbok were positives, but I fully understand your disappointment overall. If you would be open to it, I would appreciate the chance to welcome you back personally to taste our new winter Menu and hopefully and restore your confidence in us and our beautiful restaurant . Chef Kyle
