A year ago we were here and it was great. The food, the service and the ambiance. But we were really disappointed. But when we entered the restaurant at 6.30 pm it was dark, the curtains were closed and we were told that people like it this way. But they did open the curtain at the table where we sat down. The springbok venison my husband had was good, but the kingklip I had was very dry. The service was good but the ambiance was not nice at all. So I think that it was the last time we have come here.

I booked this restaurant for my wife’s birthday., and what a mistake When we arrived we were the only Two in the entire restaurant (which should have sounded some alarms) The place was dark and dingy presumably so you couldn’t see what you were eating. RIBEYE & BAOBAB BÉARNAISE Charred Ribeye, Roasted Gem Squash, & Pumpkin Seed Dukkah R395 Cold plates, overdone small portion of meat sat on a mound of tasteless mashed potatoes. Not sure what happened to the béarnaise think it got lost in the mound of potatoes SPRINGBOK LOIN Rooibos-Smoked Marrow Butter, Cured Fig Jus, & Sweet Potato–Miso Terrine R420 This could have been ok but for the small portion. We did give our feedback and were told that there is noting to be done. When I tried to speak with the chef he pretended to be on the phone and totally ignored us. So please do not go here

Oh dear i was not going to review but you have asked for one. We arrived early evening no one in the place - dark & dingy. We did not find much that excited us on the limited menu so asked the waiter if the mussels were fresh (far from sea!!) - she assured that they were but when they arrived most had no flesh remaining and a couple closed. The mains and the desert were ok. First time for years we declined to pay for the starter. Presentation throughout was lacking . Wow this restaurant needs a complete makeover if it is going to be a good place to dine. We have been coming to SA annually for 25 years and this is by far our worst dining experience.
