Jurgen Schneider: 'After 50 years of cooking I feel I came to the point to know exactly what I want to bring to the peoples palate and to the table.

All the styles we as chefs got through, in all kitchens around the world (traditionelle cooking, nouvelle cuisine, molecular style, farm to table, local is lekker, and last but not least Nature Kitchen) and the influence of each style I was thinking about my personal style a lot.

Since 40 years I am a mad forager and food from nature is for me the most inspiring topic. Here at the Western Cape in the heart of the Floral Kingdom the varieties of plants which are growing right in front of our doorstep are amazing.

Dune Spinach, Wild Sage, Cancer-bush, Buchu, Geranium, Confetti Bush, Sea Weed, Bitter Bush…and lots more…

Dinner from Wednesday until Saturday, choose between:
4 courses, 5 courses or 6 courses.

Lunch on Sunday, choose between:

    Wines were exceptionally expensive. Apart from that, a great culinary experience.

    Unfortunately, Mr. Schneider is past his prime. Based on his website, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, they weren't met. The service did its utmost, but the flavors and quality of the food were certainly not up to par with what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. The dessert, on the other hand, was very good. The ambiance also wasn't what you'd expect from a fine dining restaurant. The price-quality ratio was out of whack. Too expensive for what you get. A real shame.

    Dear Mister Sander, thank you again for your review and your kindly reminder that I am over the top... Your little campaign ( Tripadvisor, Dineplane ) starts to amuse me. Once again the fine dining is just a frame ( home made bread, 2 amouse bouche , 4 pieces fingerfood, pralines, sweet amouse bouche etc ). We have a different approach of fine dining : products are not overly processed to keep the natural taste, we add and we compliment only to enhance the taste. We do not bring so called " fine dining optic " on the plate which is often senseless ganrnish. You mix up optic vs quality . To get on the top as a reviewer you shoudn' t mix up optic vs quality in the future. Greetings from Gansbaai Jurgen PS: to complete your campaign don't forget to write to google maps , too.

    Es war ein wunderschöner Abend mit ganz hervorragenden Essen und herzlichem Service. Ganz außergewöhnlich und super lecker fanden wir die Gerichte mit den Pflanzen aus den Sanddünen. Alles hat wunderbar harmoniert. Sehr zu empfehlen, wir kommen gerne wieder.
