Our Farm to Table lunch is by reservation only. We can seat 24 guests maximum. We showcase our Estate Distillery Gonzo Distilling, our Estate Cheesery Garda Artisan Cheese & fresh lamb all from our farm. We accompany this with vegetables harvested from our garden or local surrounding farms that we hand select to ensure we offer the best possible seasonal produce for a true farm to table experience. We prepare fresh food every morning based on our bookings for the day. Our set menu is served “family style” on large sharing platters.

Lunch is served from 15h00 onwards however doors open at 14h30. Guests can prepare for a late Sunday lunch looking out over the beautiful valley and farm lands of Ouland.

We are 100% weather dependent - bring something warm for that afternoon summer's breeze.
Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks - we offer Gonzo, Local Boutique Wine & Water.

Just to clarify for future guests, we do offer a bring-your-own drinks option at a flat rate corkage of R150 per table, and which we communicated via WhatsApp. We appreciate you dining with us and value your input.     Shepherd & Salt is a gem! The food and location are world class. From the mouthwatering welcome cocktail to the exceptional array of homemade cheeses and farm reared lamb all the delicious ingredients are local or farm produced.     The setting has character and the experience is unique. The owners take extra care to be present and to welcome you into their “home”. Jurie welcomed us with drinks and stories and made us feel like friends… He brews vodka and makes salami and is in charge of the 10 memorable 10 hour lamb we had… Stephanie makes the most special cheeses, the aged varieties stood out… she went to Italy for months to perfect her skills. She showed us around and made us a part of what she does everyday… even the kids enjoyed the farm! My fav moment was when she mentioned Jurie’s “weiwater varkies…” they bought a few pigs, since they have food from the whey of the cheese…hence Jurie’s salami… what a special couple…a special setting and an understanding of the concept that less is more…and using what you have to create something great! The food arrived in abundance on family style platters and the first course was already enough to satisfy any form of hunger… I would recommend this experience to anyone who appreciates art… its truly unique and special. Stephanie and Jurie are artisans sharing the fruit of their skills with (hopefully soon) the world. Watch this space… x

    An great family outing during busy holiday seasons. This was a breath of fresh air, a peaceful and unique dining experience with flavourful local produce, prepared in perfect simplicity to highlight each ingredient. Farm to table done superbly!     This was everything we could have hoped for and more. The setting was spectacular. The welcome unforgettable. And the food was exceptional. It was so strange to be so close to Vleesbaai and yet feeling like we have been spirited away to Italy. We will definitely return! Thank you so much.
