    Waited 15 min between dishes served at table. Some of us had finished our meal while others have not received theirs. Fish cake was tasteless.

    Dear Hein, Thank you for your feedback. We want to apologise for the wait and for your experience while visiting Sonny & Irene. We want to be transparent - the delay was caused by the first fish cake not meeting our quality standard, and a fresh one had to be prepared. While we would never compromise on quality, we acknowledge that this resulted in an unacceptable wait and that your table should not have been left with some guests finishing their meals while others were still waiting. Your feedback regarding the taste has also been noted and shared with our kitchen team. This is not the Sonny & Irene standard and steps have already been put in place to ensure it does not happen again. We hope to welcome you back for the experience you deserved.     Disgraceful experience - we arrived and they had given our table away. We are regulars at this restaurant. We had a disabled member in our party and they had to wait for 20 minutes for a table to be constructed to seat 9 pax. I would like this feedback to be sent to the owner of the restaurant. The managers were rude and dismissive. It was a Mother’s Day booking and the mothers in our party were treated no differently- not a cent was removed from the bill; not a drink was comped, not a dessert or flower was offered to the mothers. I would have expected better from a Cove Collection restaurant.

    Dear Adrian, thank you for your feedback, and please know that this has been shared with the owner as requested. We truly value your family's loyalty to Sonny & Irene and we are sorry that your Mother's Day experience left you feeling frustrated. We do want to provide some important context. When you called earlier in the week, we were upfront that we do not take breakfast reservations and are unable to hold tables during breakfast service, particularly on a busy day like Mother's Day. We agreed to do our best to accommodate your group as a gesture of goodwill. When your arrival time passed, we made multiple attempts to reach you with no answer, and with a queue of waiting guests, we had to make a difficult call. We want to be transparent that under our normal policy, this table would not have been held at all. When you arrived, our team acted quickly to get your party of nine seated, and we are pleased this was sorted promptly. Regarding a complimentary gesture - your mother confirmed during the visit that the food was enjoyed, which is why nothing further was offered. We do acknowledge that a welcome drink should have been extended once service moved past breakfast, and we take that on board. We hope you understand that our team went above and beyond under the circumstances, and we look forward to welcoming your family back. Warm regards, the Team at Sonny & Irene
