For over 20 years, our unmatchable steakhouse has been as much a part of SA culture as sunshine, red wine and red meat. You could say it is a landmark on the culinary landscape (and we're now in Cape Town and the Middle East).

But The Butcher Shop is also about family - and the laughter, memories and conversations shared with special people over great food at a top steakhouse.

Our family business, handed down over three generations, is famed for its quality produce, extensive menu, separate butchery & deli and 800 passionate staff globally.

In Johannesburg, we're able to seat up to 600 guests, plus 22 guests in our exclusive private dining room. In Cape Town, we can accommodate 250 guests, with the capacity for an additional 40 guests in our private dining room.

    Absolutely lovely restaurant. Unfortunately, due to loadshedding and a faulty generator; we weren’t able to experience any of this restaurant’s offerings. This was further disheartening due to the fact that the waiting staff ignored our table for 30 minutes before we had to ask a waiter if the kitchen would still be able to operate while other guests were being served around us.

    I’m so hurt by the response we got from our waiter after he wanted more tip from us manipulating the whole tipping Bill on how he doesn’t get paid like that is my problem and he thinks he’s supposed to be getting more without he didn’t give good service. The sad thing is this is not my first time dining here and it’s my favourite restaurant if I want to go out and eat for the past two years but it’s weird now that we gonna be told to pay 10% or more of our food bill because it’s compulsory to pay for it .. My experience this time I’m out of words how my valentines night was ruined just like that

    Pitty people were allowed to smoke inside. We complained about it to the waiters but they were too scared to make a comment about it. Totally not ok as we didn’t enjoy the main course with the smoke inside.
