    We always sit out on the Veranda, every visit to Franschoek we eat here once or twice. Enough said!

    I was acually disappointed in my visit to The French Connection Bistro. I had made a reservation and was hoping to be able to sit outside but instead I was seated inside, in an alcove off the main dining room right outside the kitchen. I almost felt that because I was dining solo I was kind of put off to the side. I should have asked to be seated in a better location. My waitress was not very good at all. Every where else that I ate during my month of traveling in Africa always asked if I wanted water, either still or sparkling. She never asked at all. She was also very scarce during my time at the restaurant. I just had a main course of fish, it was nicely presented, and the fish was good but it just wasn't a WOW factor. I would not go back

    Dear Colleen Thanks for the review and feedback. I'm sorry you were unhappy with your table. It's a very busy time of year and when you booked via the Dineplan app most of the best tables were already booked. The table was booked and selected by yourself on the app, but the service staff or manager would have done their best to move you outside or anywhere else if there was availability and you had asked. I apologise the service was not as attentive as you expected but I'm glad you enjoyed the fish.I hope you change your mind and visit us again.     We sat on the outside terrace which was pleasant. My mushroom risotto was delicious. My partner and I both ordered steaks. They were cooked to order. The fillet was good. The sirloin steak was fatty and contained sinew and gristle. This was noted by the manager when she came to ask about our dinner. To be fair they offered to replace it, but we’d already had the food for 5-10 minutes and while I had spent the time cutting chunks of fat off the meat and eating the fries, my partner had almost finished, so we politely declined. I returned the steak and was not charged. The service wasn’t great as we hadn’t been able to catch a waiter’s attention, and we didn’t receive sides of sauce, vegetables or salad. We were not charged for these. At the end of the meal we were brought complimentary chocolates which were appreciated. Probably wouldn’t return.

    Dear David Thanks for the comprehensive feedback. Sorry to hear about the sinew on your sirloin. We have had the same butcher supplying us for 22 years and we rarely get poor feedback on our steak. I'll certainly take it up with them. I apologise that the service was slow and a little erratic, we should have done better. I hope you reconsider and visit again and we will give you the true French Connection experience.
