I had the Seafood Pasta, which was wonderful. A friend had the Kingklip, which was good. My children both had starters, the Prawn Bisque and the Wild Mushroom Consomme. Both of these were so tiny, particularly the Wild Mushroom Consomme, it was ridiculous. The Prawn Bisque came in a hot dish, poured from a hot jug, but was cold. The signature cocktail is absolutely fabulous. It was a lovely place to have dinner but the starters definitely won't ruin your appetite for the main course.

I have been to this restaurant a few times over the years. As I"'m from Australia it was always a special place to go and so wanted to show it off to my mother who was joining me for her first trip to Cape Town. The service just didn't feel like it used to. By the time we had been seated, I think we had been introduced to no less than 4 different staff. Then the waiter who started with us moved on and suddenly we had someone different. I didn't feel the staff were as attentive as they had been in the past and considering it was a slow evening with not many tables being used you would think the staff would be there all the time but it was a constant wait to get their attention. I recall I had also requested a seat by the window in my booking due to the nature of the return visit (I was bringing the washed of my partner back to the Mother Country and we loved dining there) but even tho the restaurant was practically empty we were not offered a window seat nor was the request acknowledged. The final disappointment in the restaurant was that while we were still eating they decided to set the restaurant up for breakfast on all the surrounding empty tables. This was noisy and disruptive with staff constantly accessing the side buffet to collect items to set the tables and constantly sweeping by our table to access it. Sadly what was once a special place for my deceived partner and me has lost its charm and I don't think I would bother coming back and not recommend it to friends and family visiting the city.
