    What a fantastic evening this Wine Pairing event was ! The food was outstanding and the wine presenters were top notch. Staff are always so attentive, professional and friendly. Awesome wine and dinner evening was enjoyed!

    We had a wonderful evening on 30 July 2026 at the Hussar Grill in Durbanville, where Meerendal hosted a fantastic wine evening introducing us to a selection of their exceptional wines. The food was excellent, with a choice of three starters, three mains, and three desserts, all perfectly paired with plenty of delicious wines. The evening was well organised, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend attending one of these events!     This was our first time at The Hussar Grill Durbanville. Upon arrival we had asked if we could sit at a different table to the one that was assigned to us, they sorted that out and gave us a nice cosier table. Service was good and the floor manager was fantastic, she approached us three times and helped us make a decision about our requirements for the sauce. We could also bring our own wine which i am so happy about because i only like a very limited variety of wine. The food was wonderful, loved the Madagascan Pepper Sauce, i liked that the peppercorns were not whole green pepper corn like most other places. The Rib Eye steak is the best i tasted in South Africa. The Chicken Livers was amazing like butter and the peri peri sauce it came in was great. Deep Fried Camembert was delicious with hot cranberry sauce that made the dish. With all positive comments about The Hussar Grill i have to pick out something they can improve on but it is not major to downgrade the star rating, the ice cream is terrible. I would of preferred to have the cherries with my Old Fashion instead of the citrus prefer how it traditionally comes but the drink itself tasted good without it. Nevertheless i thoroughly enjoyed my dinner there and will be back again. Thank you Hussar Grill Team for your hospitality.
