Always great at the Hussar Grill's Date Night. It was extremely busy so the service was a little slower than usual, but never-the-less, a lovely experience. Friendliness abounds from the waitrons - they are always so welcoming!

On this particular evening we did not have out normal fantastic service. We spent more than R2000 on that evening, as we had won a voucher from Fine and Country for the open gardens competition. We had also invited our friends to share our happy event. I was a little embarrassed and sorry that the Hussar grill has been my first choice . The service was slow, it was explained that there was a large table or 20 persons who took up time with the staff. The prawns were substandard and overpriced. The manager did present us with a r300 voucher to compensate for the disappointing meal. i will avoid this restaurant next time we are in Franschhoek until it is quieter and more attention can be paid to us.

We booked our 26th wedding anniversary dinner at Hussar Grill with high expectations, anticipating a special evening to remember. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. Our evening began with being seated at a table positioned extremely close to another two-seater. The tables were so close that we could clearly hear each other’s conversations, which took away from what should have been a private and relaxed atmosphere. The starters were enjoyable and gave us some hope for the rest of the meal. However, the disappointment continued with the main course. Both sirloin steaks, ordered medium-rare, were tough and difficult to cut, even with the steak knife. It felt as though the steaks were not cooked to the correct standard. I was also looking forward to enjoying a glass of red wine with my meal, but the wine was served noticeably warm, almost as if it had been left out on a hot day, which further detracted from the experience. While the dessert we shared was lovely, the overall evening did not meet our expectations for a restaurant of this calibre. I do understand the value of maximizing seating, but comfort and atmosphere should never be compromised, especially when guests are celebrating special occasions. Sadly, what we hoped would be a memorable anniversary dinner became a rather disappointing experience.
