    This is not the first time eating at Hussar Grill. We’ve been to branches in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Hermanus. I always hope for the food to be of a better quality but I’m left with lots to be desired, every time, across all branches. The menu is very limited for people with allergies and the kitchen seems unable to deal with those requests. Besides that, the steak tartare was unremarkable, the tomato soup was unbelievably sweet and the pork belly was decidedly unappetizing. The amount of basting (which tasted like it came out of a packet) was ridiculously too much. To be honest, Spur does a better job with their basting. The peppercorn sauce tasted like it came out of a packet. One would expect the sauces used in cooking or as an accompaniment to be freshly made. The ribeye steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. The kingklip thermador was excellent as usual - even though it didn’t quite look as it did a few year back. Both the crème brûlée and death by chocolate were delicious. Our waiter, Rafael, was knowledgeable and efficient. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is luxurious and welcoming. It far outweighs the quality of the food. It sets the diner up for a disappointing meal because the ambiance and food quality do not align.

    Everything lovely, maybe just dim the lights a bit and some candles on the table to enhance the ambience. Otherwise perfect. Delicious little olives before the meal!
