The Kraal Restaurant at Joostenberg Wine Estate, is a laid back, farm restaurant, serving slow, seasonal lunches and organic Joostenberg wines. Tables are set between fruit and olive trees in the shaded, stone walled courtyard in summer, and inside the cozy, rustic wagenhuis in winter.

Allow some time to enjoy a relaxed, informative tasting of our wines and to stroll through the werf garden and admire the authentic, original Cape Dutch architecture.

    Although I had booked and confirmed a tasting at Joostenberg winery online, when we got there it was closed for a private function. Very inconsiderate customer service - not sure we'll bother to try again

    Good morning Peter Thank you for the feedback. We are mortified to hear that you thought we had ignored your booking for a wine tasting on Saturday. We were certainly aware and were open, prepared and ready, even though we were also setting up for a wedding that took place later in the evening. We served 2 other tasting groups during the day, and wondered why you had not arrived and whether there was an error with your booking date.     Dear Susan, On arrival the Tasting sign at the front gate was marked "Closed". However we went to the door marked Tasting Room - inside the barn a young man was preparing flowers for the event and when we asked him he said you were closed for a private function. So we left. Seems it was an unfortunate misunderstanding. By the way the email you have provided above isn't correct.

    Food was not as good as it usually is. Was a bit disappointed as I’ve eaten here twice before and food was not up to the usual standard. Great setting on a beautiful summer day.

    This was a lovely afternoon out. We loved all the courses, but the dessert was definitely a showstopper! I also really appreciated the way that the chef and staff went above and beyond to cater for my food allergy.

    Absolutely loved it. Delicious food, gorgeous setting and kind friendly service. Hugely enjoyable and heart warming.
