LIVE MUSIC PERFORMANCES:
Roots Retrospective. A deeply expressive live collaboration led by Luna Paige. Inspired by the lineage of classic folk, blues and jazz vocalists, her work is grounded in storytelling and emotional honesty. With expressive piano and acoustic guitar textures at its core, her music is carried by a powerful, soulful voice that has become her signature.
Joining her on stage is acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist Hugo Veldsman, whose acoustic minimalism, fingerstyle guitar work, and atmospheric approach add a rich sonic counterpoint to the set. Hugo is known for his expressive, technically refined playing, and contributes with a selection of his own similarly styled songs, woven seamlessly into the performance.
Together, Luna Paige and Hugo Veldsman create Roots Retrospective—a cohesive, immersive musical journey that celebrates shared influences and reimagines Americana- inspired music through a deeply personal, reflective, and collaborative lens.
Thurs 30 July 18h. Show and supper.
Dance of the Footnote. Over the last two years Philip Myburgh, Jenny Hall and Jonny Blundell have co-composed a number of songs as part of a musical journey titled ‘ the dance of the footnote’ . They return to The Kraal after 2 sell-out shows earlier this year.
Jenny (on guitar, piano and vocals) and her husband James (on fiddle and vocals) will perform the songs that are the fruit of the collaboration. ‘ Jenny and James’ are the well-known duo who regularly perform in and around Cape Town. As part of the show Philip will be telling the story of the songs, a story that spans many decades from his days as a student to the present.
