    Was a great evening at The Lawns. We did bring a birthday cake to celebrate a birthday and were charged R150 for “cakeage”. We were not told about this nor is it anywhere on their website. So just a heads up if you want to celebrate your birthday there with a cake.

    I booked a table online on 22 January 2026 for my 50th birthday for 5 people on Lawn 1. On the same day I contacted the Lawns and spoke to a lady asking for a nice table seeing as it was for my 50the birthday. She confirmed my booking and said she will book a nice table for my birthday. On the Friday and the Saturday, I received emails to confirm my booking, on my both emails I confirmed my booking for the Sunday, 25 January 2026 at 13:30, Lawn 1 for 5 people. We are from Johannesburg and upon arrival the Sunday at 13:00 I was told that they cannot seat me at Lawn 1 as there was an event going on. The lady then tried to seat us at a table which you can see is for people that just pitch up without booking, not nice at all, and definately not what I have booked. Then I said to them this is unacceptable for me and she went to the "manager" who then wanted to seat us at a table in Lawn 2, which was also booked with printed forms for another couple, so now they wanted to seat us at another booked table. I was furious as not only did we get the table that we have booked but now they wanted to put us on someone else's booked table. Not professional to say the least. We ended up going to another restaurant. Not happy at all. The only thing the manager said was: "I can understand that you are mad" Not sorry at all. It seems that this business is just money driven and one would think that if this is the way they treat potential customers, I will definately not recommend them.

    Food was not great. Service was terrible. Waited over 50 minutes to be brought a bottle of wine. Food came out , no cutlery. Service was just all over the show.
