Our flagship restaurant named after founder of The Ranch, Mr Basil Shearer – Basil’s fine dining restaurant is the best way to describe The Ranch family business since it was founded in 1960 and continues to be run with the same passion and commitment that Paul and father Tom Shearer continue to strive for uncompromising standards and service culture.

Today Basil’s is headed up by Head Chef Daniel Gee and highly qualified chefs that learnt their trade though learning from other chefs at The Ranch over the years and their commitment to offering an extra ordinary dining experience in Basil’s.

The Basil’s team is well known for hosting special food and wine pairing’s that is accompanied by the wine maker. There is no other restaurant in the north that is more eagerly anticipated than a dining evening in Basil’s.

    Less food especially the Ribs, we used to serve ourselves Ribs now they cut and serve you less. No fish as usual. No chicken wings. Less starter option. Extremely disappointed.

    My family and I had the best experience & we're definitely coming back soon. I rate the service 10/10. The staff members were so kind and welcoming and that made us feel like we're at home. Big shout out to mama Marguerite Bester. I was communicating with her regarding and she was so amazing.

    I know this restaurant very well having stayed at The Ranch and dined here for more than 2 months in 2022, I knew what to expect. So, I wasn't sure how my guests from Joburg would find the restaurant. I'm pleased to confirm that they were most impressed with aĺ the meals from starter to desserts, value for money pricing for fine dining, ambiance and the brilliant service of Bra Jerry.
