Setting is epic. Food delicious. The set menus feel a little over priced for London. And its not london.

The Red Room is an above average establishment. The Peking duck was great. The establishment was however quite noisy and this distracted from the ambiance. Some acoustic improvement will be advantagious. The Red Room is not wheelchair friendly. My wife, who is disabled could not negotiate the stairs. The only way she coud get into the restaurant was through a back ally through the service area, which was quite embarrasing and distracted from the enjoyment of the evening. An establishment of the caliber of the Mount Nelson can do better.

Excellent Food, We'll Come Again Review: 2024-04-09 – Visit: 2024-04-07 We enjoyed our meal at The Red Room. We had the Chef's Taster meal which was pretty comprehensive. Don't be fooled by the small size of the first few dishes. there is more than enough during this meal to satisfy even the hungriest lion. I am allergic to shellfish and was able to choose different dishes to accommodate this difficulty with no fuss whatsoever. We loved the mix of Asian dishes: from Vietnam and Japan and other countries in the area. We were impressed by the attentive service. we were looked after by Mandy and Lu. We will definite visit again. One small thing though... It is quite dark in the restaurant; it's for the calm vibe, I expect, which works nicely. Though your eyes do eventually grow accustomed to the low light, on arrival, it is like entering a gloomy cavern. The steps down into the restaurant are also dark and it is not simple to secure your footing: missed the bottom step entirely and stumbled. am middle aged. reasonably fit and have good sight. I fear for the those older than me with less sight. However, I have a solution... How about a strip of warm LEDs on the upright part each step? Something like this will help those whose eves nave not yet adjusted.

We absolutely loved this Asian restaurant in the gorgeous Mount Nelson Hotel. It feels like being in decadent old world Hong Kong or Shanghai. Amazing food and wine. Impeccable service but still oh so fun! Be sure to go for a cocktail in the hotel bar or The Red Room bar before dinner. For two people be sure to try get one of the semi-circular seats along the wall or for 6-8 people it’s got to be a lazy susan table. The room gets nice and buzzy a bit later in the evening but not in your face - just perfect for a good night out. Fried Chicken (with the dipping foam) and Mushroom Katsu Sando were highlights! Highly recommend!
