Pan-Asian cocktail lounge and restaurant situated in the iconic Mount Nelson, a Belmond Hotel. By Chefs Warehouse.

Cross-contamination could occur, and our restaurant is unable to guarantee that any item can be completely free of allergens. Diners are encouraged to consider this information in light of their individual requirements and needs.

Halal: To note that while we can accommodate diners with our vegetarian or pescatarian menus which do not include alcohol or pork in their preparation, our kitchen does use these ingredients and we do have a bar on site.

Nuts & Alliums: Our menus use ginger, garlic, onions, spring onions and nuts extensively.

    We came here for dinner on a Friday evening excepting amazing food. Unfortunately we were left very disappointed. All the food we ordered was heavily over salted and cold. When you order steamed dim sum it should come hot and steam but arrive cold. We did address this with the staff, they were apologetic. They do need to sort their food out especially at that price.

    The flavours were just amazing! A totally new twist on how to serve lamb, it was really outstanding! The mushroom maki was also a winner. All in all a wonderful experience... go on, spoil yourself!

    Unfortunately this was not a good experience. The food was average at best. At the prices charged, one expects good food at the very least. The service started off well but went downhill as the meal progressed. When it came to paying the bill, the waiter clearly wanted to leave and kept approaching us for payment when it was obvious that we were not yet ready and in the middle of a heavy conversation which was interrupted several times by the insistent waiter. A very disappointing experience and I'm not particularly hard to please.

    5 Stars – A Touch of Indochina in the Heart of Cape Town The Red Room, located in the basement of the iconic Mount Nelson Hotel, is a sophisticated Asian restaurant with a truly unique atmosphere – everything bathed in deep red tones, elegant décor, and a stunning bar. It feels like stepping into another time, somewhere in 1930s Indochina. We had the generous 4-course menu with wine pairing: every dish was delicious, with beautifully balanced flavors, and the wines were perfectly matched. The service was warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable. For South Africa, it’s on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it considering the quality. We felt completely at ease – a clear recommendation for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience.
