Pan-Asian cocktail lounge and restaurant situated in the iconic Mount Nelson, a Belmond Hotel. By Chefs Warehouse.

Gluten Free: While we do offer some gluten free substitutes, we are not a gluten- free kitchen. Cross-contamination could occur, and our restaurant is unable to guarantee that any item can be completely free of allergens. Diners are encouraged to consider this information in light of their individual requirements and needs.

Halal: To note that while we can accommodate diners with our vegetarian or pescatarian menus which do not include alcohol or pork in their preparation, our kitchen does use these ingredients and we do have a bar on site.

Nuts & Alliums: Our menus use ginger, garlic, onions, spring onions and nuts extensively.

    It was my first visit to The Red Room. Being part of The Chef’s Warehouse group and located within the Belmond Mount Nelson, my expectations were understandably high. The food was well-prepared, balanced, and enjoyable. However, the overall atmosphere fell short of what one would expect from this restaurant. Two tables of young patrons were particularly disruptive—one group repeatedly taking photos with flash, and another being loud and placing their feet on the ledge beside the table. Unfortunately, this behaviour was not addressed by staff at any point, which significantly impacted the experience. Another disappointing detail was the presentation of the bill, accompanied by a plastic promotional pen from a pharmaceutical company. This felt entirely out of place and below the standard associated with the Belmond brand. Overall, while the food was good, the lack of attention to atmosphere and detail leave me uncertain about returning.

    The food and service was very good, but it was so dark at the tables that we all had to use our torches on our phones to read the menu! Also, the decor and carpets are overdue for an upgrade. Finally, seeing that these are all Asian dishes a few more translations of keys words would help in the choice of dishes. We constantly flipped to Google looking for help with the descriptions of dishes!
