The Wild Fig Restaurant is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the historic Valkenburg Estate. Our bar is situated in the original barn which is a National Monument. We have beautiful outdoor seating areas as well as private dining areas. We cater for all manner of events such as functions, conference, weddings, cocktail functions, breakfasts and celebrations.

    We enjoyed a very pleasant breakfast experience on the stoep. I had the Salmon Scramble which was delicious and my husband ordered the mince on toast with a poached egg which he said was very tasty. He could’ve been asked if he’d like 2 eggs though as there were two pieces of toast with the mince topping.

    We have been to the Wild Fig many times as we live close by. It's a lovely setting and the staff are always friendly, warm & attentive. The food is also generally good, but the pasta portion was really far too small - I think there were 3 or 4 rotolo for a main dish. The roast was good but could be improved with a few more roast vegetables - like cheesy broccoli & cauliflower, green beans, carrots for some colour - and with bringing extra gravy to the table. But other than these inconsistencies, the flavours and quality of the food itself is good.

    We had a good time at the Wild Fig. Food was good but portions were on the small side. We were also disappointed because the coffee machine “broke down” at 16;50 before closing. Cappuccino would have been great.
