The Wild Fig Restaurant is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the historic Valkenburg Estate. Our bar is situated in the original barn which is a National Monument. We have beautiful outdoor seating areas as well as private dining areas. We cater for all manner of events such as functions, conference, weddings, cocktail functions, breakfasts and celebrations.

    Our party of four had a wonderful experience yesterday; the Sunday roasts were tasty, the lamb shank fell off the bone and the chicken pie was delicious! Great value for money. Service excellent! We'll be back! Sandy & Brian.

    Really enjoyed my first time at the restaurant, the food and service was good quality. Our seats on the outside terrace under the trees kept us cool which made the ambience so nice. The kudu and local veg were excellent. Would i visit again, a big YES

    It’s appears that we chose a bad Sunday for a family gathering to celebrate my husbands birthday as there were two more far larger birthdays going on. One was a 70th and there must have been a good 30-40 people there, which made for very very slow service for us. There were 8 adults and two children in our group. Our various starters were all good. However mains were very disappointing! Five of us ordered the duck which consisted of 2 legs in an orange sauce. The duck fat fried potatoes were anything but crispy, rather sad and lackluster to go with the duck which was overcooked but didn’t have crispy skin either, so go figure. Two guests had sirloin steak - one was so sinuey and overcooked it had to be returned. By the time we ordered desserts we were all so over the wait for everything that we just ordered Don Pedro’s which also took an age to arrive. I did mention the disastrous duck to the waiter, who in turn called the manager over and he offered me a free dessert, which I declined because you cannot fix 5 terrible duck meals with a free dessert. I guess every restaurant has a bad day, but it will be a long while before we are tempted to try the Wild Fig again.
