First off, our server, Tumi was great! Unfortunately, their food ordering system or something went down, about 1/2 hour into our dinner, at around 19:30. This meant that all orders were to be passed with hand-written notes to the kitchen, and here is where all the trouble started. It was evident that the Chef was not prepared for this ever happening, and we ended up only receiving our food almost 2 hours later. By this time, the restaurant and all the servers were in a state of panic, as they had to juggle an obviously rude Chef, who possibly could not handle the pressure under the circumstances, or just ego. Either way, the service became much slower, partly due to the fact, that the servers also had to fulfill the role of Sommelier, wasting valuable time at tasting tables, while the other guests had to be patient while waiting for their server to return. PLEASE GET A SOMMELIER and maybe draw up a backup plan for incase the same happens in future. Anyway, onto the food: the grilled line fish was cooked well, but the portion size abysmal at best. The sirloin was prepared well but lacked taste. The hand-cut fries were nothing to write home about. But both floor manager and our server tried their very best to make us comfortable under the circumstances.

We took friends from Pretoria for wine tastings, starters and mains. Unfortunately our experience tonight was shockingly poor. The waiting staff was clueless, the service was extremely slow, and the kitchen got two of our four mains orders wrong. When we asked for two underdone steaks to be cooked a bit more, the “ad-hoc” cook took the steaks off the plates with his bare hands! The front of house was extremely apologetic - it seems the place was short-staffed, and the chef was a stand-in. The British couple at the table next to us was also very disappointed, as the kitchen got their mains orders wrong as well!

On arrival, we were seated in a seperate room to the rest of the restaurant, with a large glass window facing the pavement/street. We ordered the salt & pepper calamari to start, which was good but expensive. while we were eating our starter, someone appeared at the window to clean it, which we asked if they could rather clean the window when we have left, or maybe should have been cleaned before we arrived. We asked what was served with the steak, and our waitress said that due to the kitchen prepping (1pm), the steak would only be served with chips, we did not order that. My husband and son did the the Chardonnay wine tasting, I had a glass of the Jordan Sauvignon blanc (2023), which was the last of the bottle and somewhat tasteless, my husband had the line fish, he said the fish was very good, however we were surprised at the size of the veg portion X2 tiny carrots (Miniature) and X3 tiny slivers of courgette looked more like a garnish, we had the Cap classic fish and chips, the fish was good, but came with the same sauce as the calamari, the chips were cold and slap not crispy.

We had shrimps as a main which were overcooked and dry, so was the fish.
