Toevlug will open on Annandale Wines on the 1st of October 2025. Toevlug will focus on simple South African produce-focused cooking. We are very happy to partner with Drikus Brink again, one of the most talented young chefs in South Africa.

Toevlug means sanctuary in Afrikaans, however, the word Toevlug is much deeper than just a sanctuary. Toevlug is a space where you feel warm and safe and cared for and that is what we are creating at Annandale.

    We had a fantastic dinner at Toevlug. The fire was roaring on arrival and it created a warm, inviting atmosphere. David was an outstanding waiter - knowledgeable, patient and appropriately attentive. The food was scrumptious - Ribeye steaks with potato and pumpkin sides. I was too full to indulge in dessert. My only criticism is the music but thankfully we were able to turn it down to virtual silence. A wonderful restaurant with outstanding food. Definitely worth a visit. David followed us out with a light/torch, to the parking, because it was a particularly dark night. What a lovely gesture.
