Toevlug will open on Annandale Wines on the 1st of October 2025. Toevlug will focus on simple South African produce-focused cooking. We are very happy to partner with Drikus Brink again, one of the most talented young chefs in South Africa.

Toevlug means sanctuary in Afrikaans, however, the word Toevlug is much deeper than just a sanctuary. Toevlug is a space where you feel warm and safe and cared for and that is what we are creating at Annandale.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast from the a la carte menu at Toevlug for Mother's Day. It was our first time there, and we loved the charming farmhouse ambience. The food was fantastic as was the service. Loved the resident brindled Boerboel, Bella, who quietly walked around to greet everyone. We will definitely be back :)

    We had the pleasure of the perfect autumn morning breakfast on the patio. Perfect eggs benny and boere shakshuka with the stand outs. We were a large table and served in very good time. Dont miss out on the date tart, its legendary.

    A home from home setting with a fire and dog. Food was delicious we had the yellowtail , cauliflower and roast potatoes.Our guests said the fillet was delicious. Service was good, didn't feel rushed and altogether a wonderful experience.
