    We had an excellent dinner and would like to thank the sommelier for sharing with us his knowledge of South African wines, we really enjoyed the conversation and the wines! Food was superb, too - and service.

    We hadn’t been to Trumps in a long while The food was delicious My husband had a rump which was very te set and tasty I had grilled hake which was excellent A good choice of restaurant if you’re going

    I genuinely cannot praise the experience of dining at Trumps Grillhouse & Butchery, Nelson Mandela Square, highly enough. Following a booking made from the UK and a number of special requests made in advance of our visit, I can honestly say this was the single-most impressive Grillhouse dining experience our family have ever enjoyed. Styled in the classic theme of a traditional Parisian Brasserie with a distinct South-African flair, the food was exquisite and table service, ambience and attention to detail was exemplary. In the South African reared Waygu steaks on offer, our party dined on some truly world-class cuts of the finest beef it has ever been our pleasure to enjoy. The T-Bone, Rib-eye, Denver and Fillet Waygu steaks were real standout performers, with each grilled to absolute perfection as per individual requests. Though clearly specialists in sourcing perfectly marbled and preparing deliciously seared beef cuts, the seafood starters including untypically large and fleshy grilled jumbo prawns and sumptuous grilled peri-peri wings, perfect for sharing, meant no-one suffered from order envy. Special mention must also be given to the extensive wine list, with a broad range of contemporary and vintage, domestic and new world wines. The owners, who posses a sommelier's knowledge of food pairing across the menu, ensure that even the most discerning diner will be able to find the perfect complement to their meal, suiting a range of budgets. A true African gem, I proposed to my partner of some 10 years after our meal at Trumps - needless to say she said yes, and I am certain that the dining experience and impeccable service played a large part in creating memories our family will treasure for a lifetime.
