    Our first visit to the restaurant. The setting is impressive. It is more expensive than some restaurants in the area but the highly competent cooking was worth it. Would return for a special occasion.

    Dining experience was fabulous, lovely interior and we had a delicious meal. The Spa is lovely, unfortunately the treatment was very disappointing.

    Our waiter Joseph was extraordinary helpful and friendly. We felt very spoilt. The ambience was so beautiful. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed our visit at the Veld restaurant. Thank you for having us

    We visited Veld for dinner for my daughter’s birthday. Food: was delicious but portions were small and no sides included in what, we felt, were highly inflated prices. Understandably this is a high end restaurant but we felt the food and the price tags were misaligned. Drinks: a fair menu but not all cocktails on the menu available - a fact that the waitress should have alerted us to up front and for the calibre of restaurant should not have happened. Service: to say it was horrendous would be an understatement. Our waitress took 20 minutes to bring the first round of drinks, and with that round brought the wine and cocktails over 5 minutes apart. The second round of drinks, which we ordered to align with our main course, arrived approximately 5 minutes AFTER we had finished the main course. We ordered Port with our dessert (a simple order) which we stressed we only wanted if it arrived at the same time as dessert. She delivered the dessert and only then proceeded to clarify which Port we would like. The Port arrived again about 5 minutes AFTER everyone had finished their dessert. Customer response: we voiced our concern in a gentle way to our waitress about the tardy service early in the evening (we were waiting to toast to our daughters birthday and told her it was her birthday). Her response was ‘there is nothing we can do - can you see how busy the restaurant is?’ For a restaurant of this calibre we expected more. And we were prepared to pay a premium for a slick and enjoyable experience. Sadly, we left feeling frustrated and disappointed. We feel Spier can do better.

    Thanks to Nicole our host this evening we had a winder full night. Professional. Cheerful and caring! A huge compliment to her and also to the kitchen.
