I’ve been a loyal Villa 47 guest for over a decade. The quality of the food, the ingredients, and the ambiance have always been exceptional – which is why last night’s experience was so disappointing. From the moment we sat down, the service felt off. When we ordered our drinks, our waitress returned, asking if we wanted “the red or white Shiraz”. Rather than being the wine list with her to confirm the order, she arrived empty handed and made us feel like we made the mistake. Things escalated when we were finishing our meal. My partner was telling me about her day, eating a bit slower than me. The waitress approached and asked if we were done – but before my partner could even respond, she picked up her plate. When I mentioned she hadn’t given us a chance to reply, instead of apologising, she blamed us for having our forks together. I pointed out: if our cutlery told you everything, why ask the question at all? She asked, but simply didn’t wait for an answer. We didn’t finish the food after that. The final moment came when paying the bill. As her card machine processed slowly, she announced she would need to stand next to us until payment cleared before she could “allow us to leave.” As if we were trying to skip out on the bill. What on earth! The food remains excellent – Villa 47’s quality hasn’t slipped there. But service like this completely overshadowed the meal. What should have been a lovely evening with my partner left a genuinely sour taste. It felt like being served by someone who needed far more training in hospitality basics. I hope this was an isolated experience.

Very good food and the service was good (Freeman). The ambience wasn't exactly Italian but upstairs was very pleasant

Food and service is excellent. Location setup on 2nd floor is nicely made and the food (Linefish and filet) were excellent with very generous portions. Changes to the sides could be done without any issues. Very negative though - it’s not a place for a romantic dinner. The noise level is very high, supported by the restaurant background music and fully seated place, mostly with bigger groups of very noisy and loud talking American tourists. Sad, as this will not make us visit this place again, which has such good food.
