Midweek dinners under the stars, Friday nights with friends, special occasions celebrated in style, and a delicious breakfast menu – join us for a memorable dining experience in the heart of Plettenberg Bay.

The main dining room sits in the oldest part of the hotel, in the original building constructed in 1777 as an army barracks for the Dutch East India Company before being converted into an Anglican rectory in 1869. An exquisite, centuries-old stone wall adds warmth and character to the space while the building’s heritage inspires a bistro-style menu that draws on Dutch, English and South African influences.

    Restaurant 1777 is a classy, stylish and lovely dining experience. The menu is varied and includes a wide range of seafood, meat and vegetarian choices which were beautifully presented. The building is charming and oozes history with it's association with the Dutch East India Company. The service was of a high standard without being pushy; allowing time between courses to savour the moment. Thank you very much for the enjoyable experience.
