Set on a working wine estate in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands, lies a unique cult wine producer called Alluvia Specialist Winery.

Alluvias award winning wine estate and its luxury accommodation provides a match made in heaven, which we simply describe as “the vineyard lifestyle...”

Alluvia encapsulates the complete spirit of wine, our land blessed with tiny fertile alluvial deposits of Table Mountain Sandstone and Granite which gives us a perfect platform to produce world class wines of integrity. At Alluvia we constantly challenge the boundaries of traditional wine making styles; an approach that earned us top honours at the Decanter World wine awards for Alluvias “ilka” Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as The International Wine & Spirits awards and numerous other accolades. Even before its maiden release, our lisa Cabernet Franc was nominated by Wine Magazine as the top Cabernet Franc in South Africa.

    This was our 3rd visit to Alluvia to enjoy our evening meal. We were a group of 4, 3 of which decided to have a short rib of beef with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The fourth member of the group chose roasted cauliflower, crispy kale mash. He was very pleased with his dish and would recommend it.. Those of us, who ordered the short rib, were deeply disappointed back home in the UK. We were all experienced with cooking and enjoying a short rib of beef on a very regular basis at home and in restaurants. We were expecting it to be fall off the bone tender after being cooked long and slow. On receipt of our meals and cutting into the meat, We all queried whether the meat was in fact beef, we were assured that it was. The meat was pale in colour, stringy bland in taste and there was a lot of gristle. The meat was very tough and it was as though it required cooking for a longer period of time. One member of the group only had a small amount of gravy compared to other members with the same dish. Therefore she found the dish very dry. Would we recommend the short rib of beef? The answer is a resounding no from those who ordered it.. in fact we all wished that we had ordered the roasted cauliflower, which was very tasty. It was a shame that in our opinions our meal was not what we were expecting. Would we visit Alluvia again? Yes we would the environment and views are fantastic however we will definitely be steering clear of the short rib of whatever that meat was.

    Food and viws very good. Food took too long to arrive and plates sat in front of us for a while before being cleared otherwise very good.

    Everything was good except my cauliflower steak which was soaked and overwhelmed by undefined sources. Everything else what we had was fine

    we really enjoyed our visit. service was very great our waiter treated us so well and made jokes here and there which was very welcoming. The views were breath taking except for the weather which didn't do much justice however we will visit again to experience the views fully. The food was nice as we ordered rump stake which was done well and the oysters were very nice.
