Wine, wine everywhere, tempting wine-lovers with the largest wine bar in the world. Welcome to Belthazar, a veritable theatre of fine food and wine on the cutting-edge of “shoppertainment”. A multi-purpose restaurant, grill, wine bar and gourmet home accessory shop, Belthazar brings a chic new concept in the culinary arts to Cape Town.

Dedicated to the wise man of the magi who was “lord of treasures”, a treasure trove of delights awaits foodies at Belthazar – along with an exclusive catalogue of kitchenware. (We might spell his name a little differently but we like to do things a little differently with a lot of style.)

Owners of award-winning Balducci, a landmark for contemporary dining at the Cape, travelled the world with their team to find an innovative formula which would showcase South African wine in a prime tourist location at the V&A Waterfront. Follow the romantic lamps to a terrace with dreamy views of Table Bay and the rich ambience of a wharf warehouse with thousands of bottles of wine, a glittering store of Riedel glassware, wine aprons, corkscrews, cookbooks and exclusive gourmet knives.

    We had high expectations and enjoyed the service by Human. The good unfortunately was not up to standard. Fish was dry and had so much sauce you could not identify the fish anymore. We made a complaint and the fish was not billed. Would not go there again though.

    Had a fantastic Friday afternoon at Belthazar Restaurant & Wine Bar with customers, enjoying some great food and drinks before the big Stormers vs. All Blacks game. The atmosphere was brilliant, the service was excellent, and the drinks were spot-on. What really stood out, though, was the meat selection — an impressive variety, beautifully prepared and full of flavour. It was the perfect setting to relax, catch up with customers and get into the excitement of the game. A big thank you to the Belthazar team for making the afternoon such an enjoyable experience. Great food, great drinks, great service and an even better atmosphere. Definitely a place I’d recommend and will happily visit again! 🥩🍷🍻🏉

    Sadly at least a third of two of the steaks ordered was just fat and sinew and couldn't be eaten.

    Excellent service and location. Good food . A little noisy as we were near the bar. Music not very relaxing!

    The Wine: A massive, "bible-sized" list with a sommelier who really knows his stuff.The Food: Heavenly Springbok Carpaccio, a succulent 350g fillet, and the perfect Crème Brûlée to finish.The Vibe: Relaxed and attentive. They understood I wanted to take my time and didn't rush a single course.

    Food was excellent - large portions. Service was great to start with, but tailed off half way through and the restaurant seemed rather chaotic. The wine list was comprehensive and the glasses we were recommended were all good.
