Moody Lagoon is a contemporary restaurant and eatery located within the magnificent Benguela Cove, just 1.5 hours from Cape Town and only 15 minutes outside of Hermanus.


The restaurant is glitzy and opulent, featuring a large veranda with stunning views over the lagoon. Art adorns the entire estate, creating an ambiance of modern South African dining at its finest.

    We had a phenomenal lunch at Benguela Cove with our friends visiting from the UK. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and wine, and made us feel right at home with a warm, friendly approach. Chef Christo truly made us feel special — every dish was out of this world. We will absolutely be back, time and time again!

    The service in the restaurant was very good. While the food was hot and delicious, the portions were tiny for cost of each meal. For those prices, which are higher than the dining room at nearby Arabella, we certainly expected to receive a more substantial portion.

    We had a lovely lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere. One small observation: for a restaurant that feels very much like a fine-dining experience, the use of paper serviettes felt slightly out of place. Cloth napkins would elevate the table setting and better match the overall quality of the restaurant.
