The Hermanus restaurant, Moody Lagoon is set in the heart of the Benguela Cove winery complex. The restaurant is in an elevated setting with expansive views of the lagoon and the Atlantic ocean. The kitchen is the domain of Annie Badenhorst. A talented young Namibian chef with a passion for finding only the best fresh produce and creatively turning dishes into simple but creative menu items.

    My boyfriend treated me to a brunch at Moody Lagoon on the 4th of May. I ordered the Haddock and scrambled eggs and he ordered the Breakfast bun. The food was delicious and it was a big portion. We sat outside as the weather was nice. Our waitress’s service was good and she was friendly. I asked for green tea that was not on the menu and she was able to assist me with it. It’s my second time at the Moodly Lagoon restaurant and I will definitely visit again soon

    We have been in SA for 6 weeks and travelled all over the Cape Province & Karoo. This was one of the best experiences of our trip. The setting is spectacular, the food superb and the service friendly, caring and passionate about Benguela Cove. Fanni is a credit to the venue and made our experience extra special. We will definitely be back. Thank you. (PS - the statue is inspiring)

    They were revamping the kitchen or something so we did not get to seat where we booked with limited menu. But otherwise great food & service.

    We have visited Benguela many times, for tastings, meals, and even a New Years Eve. Gala. So we were very disappointed in our experience for the Easter Brunch. We booked at 16:00, and paid in advance as required. When we arrived, all three courses of our meal were dropped on the table at once, before our wine had even arrived. When we questioned, we were told that we were the last table and only people left and everyone was just waiting for us to leave so they could close. The food was cold and had clearly been sitting out for hours. The staff turned off the music and started putting chairs on tables while we were still eating dessert. If the restaurant didn't want guests at 16:00, then don't allow bookings at that time, or contact the customer and ask if they want to come earlier--we would have--or, live up to your service standards and take care of customers despite being the last table. I don't blame the staff--our waiter was pleasant and even asked us if we wanted 5 minutes before dessert. This is a management failure. You need to do better. Rethinking recommending Benguela to anyone.

    Good day. Our picnic baskets were ordered for collection at 11am. Upon collection we were told they would bring it to the splash park. It was only delivered at 11:30. One of the picnic baskets did not contain cheese straws. None of the baskets contained plates. We were supplied with a blunt wooden knife to cut through tough ciabatta. This was impossible to do. The bread should be pre-sliced if you do not supply a knife able to cut through the bread.
