This experience at Moody Lagoon on Mother's Day was exceptionally special. The food presentations are exquisite and i would recommend that the dishes are photographed and displayed with the menu. The menu is in a beautiful folder, but the menu display definitely needs attention. The hospitality of staff was excellent. The only complaint we had is that we sat at the door where the guests were in and out (kids and smokers) and our food got cold very quickly. My son ordered his fillet as medium/rare, but it came as medium. Perhaps the chef can just pay attention to that. Should you need a recommendation for a photographer, my son is one and has worked with my food stylists and chefs before. It really would add a lovely touch to your menus and website. Thank you for making our visit to Benguela Cove so special. Regards, Wynne Pietersen

R315 for Hake (frozen, not fresh) and Chips!!!! R320 for a Chicken Burger!!! The menu presented in a cheap plastic sleeve that you would expect at a corner take-away store. Outrageous pricing and they clearly do not want South Africans to visit. Wine was excellent though.

Moody Lagoon at Benguela Cove responded on Mon 11 May 26:
Morning Patrick Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on your experience, we are sad to hear that the menu was too pricey for you, we generally have lots of South Africans enjoying our restaurant and have no complaints. We try and keep our prices the same as our neighbouring restaurants. We will however take your feedback to heart and see where we can improve in future.

A very disappointing meal. The fillet steak was anemic and was perched on top of a mound of mashed potatoes (described as pomme purée) and drowned by pepper sauce. The 2 small lamb chops with fondant potatoes were very average. We expected that the dessert of Black Forest cherry soaked chocolate sponge at R260 would be amazing - sadly it was two towers of dry chocolate sponge, with a spoonful of cherry jam (which looked bought) and some bits of pink sponge that tasted of nothing. Definitely not worthy of the price. The restaurant was fairly empty and felt very sterile. The service was good. We like to support local restaurants, but won’t be going back. There are far superior dining options in the area.

Hi Debra, thanks for the review, sorry to hear that the food was not according to your liking. We have had great feedback in general with this menu but sadly we cannot always satisfy everyone's taste. We still appreciate your review as it gives us something to consider. The restaurant was quiet yesterday because of the weather and that contributed to the ambiance I believe. I again want to thank you for your review and hope that you might consider us again in the near future.

Absolute rip off - service terrible - food disgusting for R900 per head on the ‘Easter extravaganza’. No ambience and tiny terrible food. Kids food awful - no wonder there were hardly any people there. Kids food so sad too - not one veg to be seen. Won’t ever be going back.

Moody Lagoon at Benguela Cove responded on Mon 13 Apr 26:
Morning Belinda, we are sorry to hear that the food was disgusting according to you, we had people who absolutely loved the food. We have however got the understanding that not all foods are loved equally well and have decided that we will always have our a la carte menu available as well if you don't find something to your liking on our special menus. Regards

One of the worsts meals I have had - the Easter set menu was very limited with low quality options. The salad was not even a salad and desert I don’t even know where to start. It was unfortunate at the setting is beautiful and there is a great kids area. Also there is limited ambience in restaurant you would be better going to tasting room where they had live music. Definitely not the special Easter lunch it touted itself to be.

Moody Lagoon at Benguela Cove responded on Mon 06 Apr 26:
Good afternoon Angela Thank you for your feedback, it is unfortunate that you didn't enjoy our set Easter menu. We always try with our special set menus to satisfy everyone's needs, but we don't always meet it. We have had lovely reviews from a lot of our guests about the menu so sometimes it is not according to everyone's liking. We hope to have you back in the near future to come and enjoy our restaurant menu as there is more variety on it. Kind Regards
