The Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, located in the trendy harbour town of Kalk Bay, is situated in False Bay, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Surrounded by the rolling waves, the restaurant complex of terraced dining areas, is nestled into the tidal pool walls, and offers visitors an unforgettable and truly unique seaside dining experience. Built in 1939, the Brass Bell’s humble beginning as a council-run “Tea Room” is a far cry from the bustling complex of waterfront dining venues that it is today.

Brass Bell’s owner, Tony White has pioneered the ongoing development of the Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, and together with his dynamic hospitality team, has turned the Brass Bell from a once quaint seaside bistro into a beloved household name, boasting an impressive series of 9 different dining and events venues.

The location and splendour of this magical place has captured the imagination and hearts of tourists and locals alike, and it is now a world renowned and well-loved hotspot; welcoming guests with our warm hospitality and superb menu selections.

The food is good but they were operating without running water due to a burst pipe. I must call out the ‘chips’ - we understand to sentiment to do hand cut but would suggest the chef rather discontinue chips in favour of wedges or something else. Those chips won’t work.

We enjoyed the Artisanal Breads evening (Thursdays at 18h30) with plenty of delicious breads, dips, patés, soup etc for R69 was excellent value. However the glass of wine prices (250ml) are expensive (R79-95) and the normal menu is also on the pricey side (Avg meal around R230 and a pizza over R200). Overall I still like the location and the views, particularly in summer overlooking the sea, are wonderful 😀

We where a party of 11 people. I ordered the Tony's Special and it was so dissapointing and underwhelming, and other guests felt the same about their food. Other than the view no trouble has been taken to make the Pavilion welcoming. In fact it's all rather shabby!

Was generally a wonderful experience, staff were great, setting amazing. BUT, the food was ok. The fish was awesome, but needed more seasoning in the batter, and the calamari starter was great, but a little over done. Also, the peri peri sauce needs to be a little more in keeping with fish...as in,maybe a lemon butter chilli sauce or similar (something a little exotic) - the current in house one is far too "spicy bbq sauce" than a chilli sauce that compliments sea food.that being said, great experience.
