The Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, located in the trendy harbour town of Kalk Bay, is situated in False Bay, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Surrounded by the rolling waves, the restaurant complex of terraced dining areas, is nestled into the tidal pool walls, and offers visitors an unforgettable and truly unique seaside dining experience. Built in 1939, the Brass Bell’s humble beginning as a council-run “Tea Room” is a far cry from the bustling complex of waterfront dining venues that it is today.

Brass Bell’s owner, Tony White has pioneered the ongoing development of the Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, and together with his dynamic hospitality team, has turned the Brass Bell from a once quaint seaside bistro into a beloved household name, boasting an impressive series of 9 different dining and events venues.

The location and splendour of this magical place has captured the imagination and hearts of tourists and locals alike, and it is now a world renowned and well-loved hotspot; welcoming guests with our warm hospitality and superb menu selections.

We were a group of 13 that had lunch at Brass Bell Waterside. Whilst wait staff were very friendly it took 40 minutes for the lunch order to be taken, with two tables that arrived after ours having their orders taken ahead of ours. Food arrived 30 minutes later which was anticipated given the time of day and size of our group. Unfortunately the orders for two of our party were incorrect and they had to wait a further 10 or so minutes for their correct orders to arrive. Most people in our group had seafood of some description and the general consensus was that the fish dishes were cooked well and tasty. I ordered a combo of seared Tuna, calamari tentacles and one grilled prawn with savoury rice. The item was 'new' to the menu and gave an oppprtunity to sample a selection of seafood. The seared Tuna was a little lack lustre with no real flavour while the tentacles were well cooked I felt they were over seasoned. The prawn was very well cooked and I wished I had ordered an extra portion. Sadly the savoury rice was bland and quite forgettable. I also ordered the spicy chicken livers. I've eaten a lot of chicken livers in my time and these were the best I have had. Highly recommended! One of our party odered the creme brulee which they said was good but thought it strange that it was cold, possibly straight out of the fridge. I did a quick poll of the table and the agreement was 5 out of 10 for service and 7 out of 10 for quality of the food served. This restaurant is situated on the edge of a tidal pool with stunning views across the bay.

The Crayfish Thermidor was disappointing. My son raved over the one he had with you two months ago which is why we chose it but he said it was not nearly as good this time. I don’t understand why it is necessary to increase the standard service charge for large groups when the bill is so much more than with smaller groups - I don’t think the extra charge is worth it for you considering the negativity it creates
