    This restaurant is absolutely fine, but doesn't exceed expectations on any of the four dimensions. Staff forgot to keep a table free even though we had a slot for the first setting, but were able to recover. Nothing wrong about the food, but the shrimp and avocado cocktail appetiser featured small portion of hard avocados and more salad leaves than shrimp. Steak was fine, fish of the day was king clip, like just about every other restaurant on the Cape. Terrace was pleasant even though road beside it was busy.

    A bit of a disappointment I must say. Staff was hasty and uninterested. E.g. while opening our bottle of wine, the person involved was talking to guests waiting to be seated. Bottle was left on the table and the cooler was placed 5 minutes later at our table. Food plates were taken off the table while the other member of the party was still eating. Food was ok though but a refresher in hospitality for the serving staff is, in our opinion, necessary.

    Cafe du Vin tick all the boxes when it comes to dining in Franschhoek. The staff is super friendly, very welcoming and very knowledgeable about their menu. The food are generous portions and very flavorful. The cafe also offers some fabulous cocktails and the fact that one can be seated with a view of the main road is just the cherry on the cake! Definitely worth a visit!
