Situated on Kanu wine farm, Du Vin is the new benchmark for asian fusion cuisine in Stellenbosch.

By pairing good wine and good food, our chefs have designed a modern asian fusion menu that stimulates the tastebuds and seduces your palate when paired alongside our award-winning wines.

Our restaurant is designed on the Japanese style of “izakaya” which introduces the customer to a variety of dishes & snacks to accompany alcoholic drinks served to encourage sharing.

    On a cold Wednesday we were warmly welcomed by the staff and a roaring log fire. Although the fire was constantly tended, both doors to the restaurant terraces apparently had to be kept open, so there was a constant cold through draught, even though we were seated close to the fire. We lived in Asia for many years and were so looking forward to once again enjoying their delicious style of food, as described on the menu. We started placing our order, only to be told that our choices of tuna, prawns and aubergine were not available. The yakitori chicken came promptly, was tasty, but overdone and dry. The sushi was very well presented - the crunch rolls outstandingly tasty, but although we had ordered the samurai roll with tempura prawn and avocado, we were served salmon and crab roll – a bland substitute. Then we decided to order dessert. The waitress returned to tell us the cheesecake was not available, so we asked for the crème brulee. Then she was most embarrassed to have to explain that none of the four desserts on the menu were available. At which point we asked for the bill. Our compliments to the sushi chef, who managed to produce such tasty food with such limited resources, and compliments to Okuhle, our professional, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient waitress for superb service. However - how is it possible that such a beautiful place, in such a spectacular setting, and with such potential can get it so badly wrong that so many of the dishes on the menu are simply ‘not available’? It seems they only care about the busy tourist season, and locals must take-it-or-leave-it during the winter! Sadly, we will not be back, and we cannot recommend such a poorly run establishment.
