    I would give 0 stars if I could. We have been coming to cape town for about 15 years and have seen the regeneration of sea point with lots of amazing bars and restaurants the grand pavilion used to be a gem of a place to go and eat and watch the world go by but it is now trading on a reputation it no longer deserves. the place is tired, grubby and the staff are lacklustre and directionless. we ordered crispy calamari as a starter it was revolting and despite only trying a few bits both my husband and i then ended up with food poisoning ruining the next 4 days of our holiday this was the only food i ate that day so can be the only reason i got sick. My husband had a steak which to be fair was very good if somewhat overpriced with the arrival of a plethora of restaurants in sea point like zest, aereal, jarryds, and all of the cove collection restaurants like the nines this place needs to either up its game or bow out the food was poor compared to all of the aforementioned restaurants and the staff poorly trained again completely at odds with the service found elsewhere which had been exemplary in a nutshell there is no reason to visit this restaurant spend your money elsewhere

    If you’re looking to be pampered and spoiled while being served, this is not the place. If you’re looking for an excellent, well prepared meal with a nice seaside ambiance, give them a try. I will be back for sure.
