To start we had a reservation but we were still made to wait with people that had just arrived being seated before us, then there was the waiter who was absolutely horrific, not only did she seem very disinterested in serving us but she was also horrible in how she served us. She would bump into us when giving us our plates and ignore us for extended periods of time, she then had the audacity to complain about the tip, of which I’d have been well within my right not to give her anything at all.

Harry’s is just OK when compared to The Grand Pavillion (its sister restaurant in Sea Point). Despite having the same menu, the food at Harry’s Beach consistently falls short. I have dined at both restaurants on various occasions and always have either the prawn linguine or the truffle and Parmesan gnocchi and every time I have these at Harry’s beach they just lacks flavour or are not cooked well (too al dente or overcooked). I think the issue is Harry’s is so popular (especially in December/Jan) and gets so busy that the kitchen cannot manage the amount of food orders, leading to the drop in quality. And this brings me to the other issue… wait times. I’ve been the Harry’s a few times over December (2025) and I have waited over 1-1.5h for my mains on several occasions. last night (Monday 30th) was the most extreme case: we put in our order at 8.37pm and we got our food at 10:39pm. Finally let’s talk about the music. It’s great to have live music / a dj - it makes the place so vibey and fun… but if you are seated on the outside / front part of the restaurant, the music is so loud you can barely hear the person talking next to you - last night we practically had to shout to hear each other. Inside the restaurant is not as loud. My recommendation to improve food standards an wait times - decrease the number of tables and/or have more people in the kitchen so that food is served at a timely manner and with the same high quality of the grand pavillion.
