Idiom wines is based in the heart of the Helderberg range. This southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region provides the backdrop and the perfect climatic conditions for the incredible range of wines. A celebration of terroir, unusual varietals and masterful blends, Idiom is so-called because it is home to the Cape expression of so many European classics. The Cape Idiom, if you will.

The Idiom Restaurant and Wine Tasting Centre offers world-class and informative tasting experiences that showcase Idiom’s flagship blends, signature Italian varietal wines and rare limited release 900 Series wines. Explore the ‘Cape Idiom’ of the great wine regions of the world, while taking in architecture, views, and Italian-South African wines. Guests are also able to embark on a virtual journey through the main wine regions of Italy at the Vinotria Italian Wine Library – a display of 250 wines from all over Italy distributed by Bottega Family Wines in South Africa.

    Samuel is a fantastic waiter. The food, from starters to mains to desert, was amazing. The Line Fish Ceviche was the starter of the day. My fillet was not medium rare, but the dish as a whole was still lovely. The duck and the lamb were both wonderful. Kyle (our wine champion according to Samuel) was fantastic, as always. Overall, a fantastic day. See you soon!

    We have been coming to idiom for years and our meal yesterday was by far the most disappointing. The duck and lamb was tough and not well balanced. Furthermore the classic tiramisu was very far from classic and the cream was over beaten, the classic layers were non existent, with one small lady finger hidden in the middle.

    Beautiful location and building, Stunning views. The food is over fussy, too many elements on each dish, that dont add anything to the dish, just confuse it. Could be good with some refinement.
