Idiom wines is based in the heart of the Helderberg range. This southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region provides the backdrop and the perfect climatic conditions for the incredible range of wines. A celebration of terroir, unusual varietals and masterful blends, Idiom is so-called because it is home to the Cape expression of so many European classics. The Cape Idiom, if you will.

The Idiom Restaurant and Wine Tasting Centre offers world-class and informative tasting experiences that showcase Idiom’s flagship blends, signature Italian varietal wines and rare limited release 900 Series wines. Explore the ‘Cape Idiom’ of the great wine regions of the world, while taking in architecture, views, and Italian-South African wines. Guests are also able to embark on a virtual journey through the main wine regions of Italy at the Vinotria Italian Wine Library – a display of 250 wines from all over Italy distributed by Bottega Family Wines in South Africa.

    We went for a wine tasting and lunch. Service was informed, friendly and attentive. Food and wine were excellent and complementary. Overall good experience and to be recommended.

    We had a fabulous time at Idiom, as always. Our easier, Milton, was excellent. His knowledge of the wines that we chose was extensive and his manner of delivering the information was friendly. One guest ordered the duck, which was plated like a work of art as well as being duck and a good portion. My double patty burger was a gourmet burger. From the bun with black sesame seeds too the cheese and bacon topping my patties. The guest who ordered the pizza was disappointed in the crust although the toppings were delicious. The chef paid careful detail to each dish, that is very apparent. Delightful afternoon there.

    Such an amazing venue. We really enjoyed the experience. The canapes were of highest quality and well chosen for the accompanying wines. Thanks. Definitely somewhere to visit again.

    We went for a Sunday lunch date, the vibe was perfect, relaxing, beautiful view and such good service. Gabriel took good care of us! We love dessert and the tiramisu was a show stopper. Can’t wait to go back.

    We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Idiom and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. The team was incredibly helpful even before our visit, and on the day, Clayton took wonderful care of us with outstanding professionalism and kindness. During our lunch, one of our friends unexpectedly collapsed, and the entire team reacted with calm, efficiency, and genuine care. Juan managed the situation brilliantly, Lauren stayed by our side the whole time, and Clayton was always ready to assist. Their quick and compassionate response made a very stressful moment so much easier, and we are deeply grateful. Despite the circumstances, we still had a lovely celebration. The food was outstanding, and our guests — many visiting Idiom for the first time — were all impressed. Idiom truly has a remarkable team and a fantastic kitchen. It was not our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last.
