Idiom wines is based in the heart of the Helderberg range. This southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region provides the backdrop and the perfect climatic conditions for the incredible range of wines. A celebration of terroir, unusual varietals and masterful blends, Idiom is so-called because it is home to the Cape expression of so many European classics. The Cape Idiom, if you will.

The Idiom Restaurant and Wine Tasting Centre offers world-class and informative tasting experiences that showcase Idiom’s flagship blends, signature Italian varietal wines and rare limited release 900 Series wines. Explore the ‘Cape Idiom’ of the great wine regions of the world, while taking in architecture, views, and Italian-South African wines. Guests are also able to embark on a virtual journey through the main wine regions of Italy at the Vinotria Italian Wine Library – a display of 250 wines from all over Italy distributed by Bottega Family Wines in South Africa.

    If there were more stars, Idiom would receive them... once again, we were overjoyed with every element of the Valentine breakfast my wife and I could enjoy! Every expectation exceed! Thanks to all the staff and Management.

    Poor acoustics - some form of sound dampening is needed. Our waiter was nice but not attentive - should have suggested drawing the blinds much earlier

    The wine and service was faultless! Unfortunately some elements of the meals were disappointing. I will provide a list of meals and comments from my guests STARTERS 1. Cauliflower croquettes- delicious and perfect 2. Ostrich carpaccio- excellent 3. Fish (cannot recall which) ceviche- good but not great 4. Mushroom pasta(can’t recall details) - excellent MAINS 1. Duck- average. Skin not crispy and lacked seasoning 2. Fillet - the jus tasted like very strong and salty stock and was not pleasant 3. Risotto- absolutely delicious 4. Lamb - good but lacked seasoning

    Lovely welcome by your staff, great wine tasting and delicious lunch with a good variety of dishes to choose from. Taking our order took a while because the waiter also had to do the bar service. But again a great experience!
