The Manor House Restaurant is a true hidden gem and well worth a visit, whether you're staying at Stanford Valley Guest Lodge or simply passing through the area. We ended up enjoying almost every meal here during our stay because the food was consistently outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared, and packed with flavour. Some of our absolute favourites included the grilled calamari on crispy seaweed with lemon aioli. The combination of flavours and textures was exceptional, with every element complementing the next perfectly. The risotto with sun-dried tomato, spinach, lemon, and crispy Parmesan was the ultimate comfort dish—rich, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. The baked Stonehouse Camembert wrapped in phyllo pastry, served with pesto and chilli tomato jam, was simply divine and an absolute must-order. The catch of the day was cooked to perfection, allowing the freshness of the fish to shine. And the pork belly roast with creamy potato mash, kale parcel, apple, and Gesellig jus was outstanding—beautifully balanced, incredibly tender, and one of the best pork dishes we've had in a long time. These are just a few of the dishes that stood out, but honestly, every meal we enjoyed was memorable. It's clear that great care goes into every plate that leaves the kitchen. Add the warm, friendly service and the beautiful setting overlooking the Stanford Valley, and you have a dining experience that's difficult to beat. We'll definitely be back—and we'll be dreaming about that grilled calamari and pork belly until then!

Sunday lunch, the mushroom soup was VERY delicious, I had oxtail and it was cooked perfectly, falling off the bones, as it should be.

We went for a celebratory Sunday lunch. Everyone on our party loved the ambiance, old world charm and excellent hospitality. The A La Carte menu was extensive and each person in our group of six commented “this is the best pork belly/lamb/oxtail I have ever had”. It was a superb experience from start to finish.

Everything was 5 star. If I may suggest, the crackling on the pork belly was difficult to cut as it was a solid piece and not scored. Did not want to loose a tooth, 🤣 but the pork was delicious. Perhaps scoring it would enable you to leave a complete empty plate. But the ox tail and lamb was superior. Thank you, my son is booked to bring his with on 19Des to show off the culinary experience we all enjoyed on a double birthday celebration with you yesterday. Thank you for making it so memorable.

Had the pleasure of visiting Manor House on a cold and rainy evening in July. What a delight - not only did our table next to the fireplace warm us up, but so too did the service, food and wine. This fantastic team serve up some truly creative and delicious dishes. When accompanied by great South African wine and stellar service, it makes for a fantastic experience.
