Moody Lagoon is a contemporary restaurant and eatery located within the magnificent Benguela Cove, just 1.5 hours from Cape Town and only 15 minutes outside of Hermanus.

    The food was wonderful and my portion was super generous. The lady who served us was lovely and all in all it was a great place for a special treat.

    The wine farm is in a lovely location, and the welcome and service were warm. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Our oysters were poorly shucked and of low quality. My partner’s medium-rare steak arrived rare, paired with two dry, tasteless chakalaka fingers. My venison was chewy, and the potato-broccoli “purée” was clumpy and over-creamed. Overall, the dishes lacked seasoning and attention to detail, despite the attempted plating. When we shared our concerns at the end of the meal, no one including the hostess or chef followed up. For €70, the meal was not worth it. The wine was good, so a wine and cheese platter might be the safest choice, but we won’t be returning.

    Wonderful day at Benguela Cove, starting with a great wine tasting safari, which we highly recommend, followed by a superb lunch in a beautiful setting. Staff were so friendly and attentive, and wine and food were awesome
