Welcome to Mykonos Greek Taverna.

Mykonos Taverna first opened its doors in the 80’s in Sea Point and was run by Peter Peroglou and his family. Now, 30 years later, Dimitri Peroglou (Peter’s son) and his wife, Vicky, run this authentic Greek taverna with the same traditions as initially installed almost half a century ago.

‘Our idea from the beginning is to create, produce and serve superb, full flavored food - all ruled by taste. We always strive for efficient, uncompromised, sincere, fabulous, caring and exceptional service. We are passionate about building strong relationships with everyone that crosses our paths – be it our customers, our community, or our suppliers.’

The food is usually so reliable. We love it. Everyone else's food at our table of 10 was great. We just had to ask for more feta in the salads. My chicken was burnt and dry but I was so hungry I didn't send it back. Everyone else's chicken was juicy and succulent.

Great buzzy vibe in the new venue - although it was quite quiet when we arrived (very early). Outstanding selection of mezze - we particularly loved the deep fried calamari tentacles, the loaded dolmades and the spanakopita. Probably ate too much so would share a main next time. Very tender lamb cubes in my schwarma. Chocolate malva was a surprise and very good. Friendly, prompt service. Only reason for four stars in the food space - the top of the moussaka had caught quite heavily. Bechamel underneath was very good. Just removed the slightly burnt top.

I am really a bit dissappointed in Mykonos Sea Point. We all had souvlaki which was not too bad , but the portions was nothing to write home about. For the wine we had Ken Forrester Petit chenin blanc. A very nice light fruity wine, which you can buy at you local for R65, but here, a hefty R240. The baclava was very good for R68. At the end of the afternoon, on paying the bill, I said “Just make it R1300”, which irritadesd the waiter to no end, because with the actual 10% GRATUITY for good service came to R1308, which the he demanded. This left quite a bad taste in my mouth, and I will do my outmost to avoid Mykonos Sea Point in the future.
