This legendary exclusive revolving restaurant was officially opened in February 1973. The Roma was born from a concept pioneered by Bartholoeo Ribero, Turi and Gino Leopardi. Now proudly owned by the Reelin Group and managed by the Leopardi brothers. We are proud to say that we are the only genuine revolving restaurant in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd of its kind in the world. Roma Revolving Restaurant also boasts the unique feature, as two others do, of a revolving window and floor area! The restaurant is situated on the 32nd Level of the John Ross House overlooking the whole of Durban and surrounding areas with excellent sea and bay views.

    Dinner with a view you’ll never forget I just had dinner at Roma Revolving Restaurant and wow — it’s an experience, not just a meal. The vibe: You’re slowly rotating 360° while you eat, so the whole city skyline unfolds around you. Sunset into night was perfect timing. Lights came on, the view changed every few minutes, and it never got old. It feels special without being stuffy. The food: Thoughtfully done Italian with a modern twist. We started with burrata and truffle arancini — both spot on. For mains, the ribeye was cooked perfectly and the seafood pasta had real flavor, not just cream. Portions are generous and plating is restaurant-quality. They also have good wine and cocktail options to pair. Service: Attentive but not hovering. Staff explained the rotation, timing of courses, and were great with dietary questions. Worth it? Absolutely. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not expensive at all and the food holds its own and the revolving aspect makes it perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or just treating yourself. We stayed for 90 minutes and did a full rotation twice — didn’t want to leave Will be visiting again Gold stars to Gino and Gordan. We love you guys

    We loved every minute of our time there. Enjoyed talking to staff who have served there since the restaurant opened. The view was amazing. The food didn't disappoint either.

    Fun was had. Was my 2nd time being there. Totally outa this world. I’d like to recommend that url get new wine glasses that are modern/chic/recent make. Even on the display of the tables. The ones existing are too too old fashion for our liking, sorry. Other than that, me and my bestie had a phenomenal time and enjoyed our women’s day and we thank the staff for an incredible time. Stay blessed 🙏🏾❤️🤏🏾
