This legendary exclusive revolving restaurant was officially opened in February 1973. The Roma was born from a concept pioneered by Bartholoeo Ribero, Turi and Gino Leopardi. Now proudly owned by the Reelin Group and managed by the Leopardi brothers. We are proud to say that we are the only genuine revolving restaurant in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd of its kind in the world. Roma Revolving Restaurant also boasts the unique feature, as two others do, of a revolving window and floor area! The restaurant is situated on the 32nd Level of the John Ross House overlooking the whole of Durban and surrounding areas with excellent sea and bay views.

    The food was delicious and the service was great. Even though they say the decor has been upgraded, it still feels very dated, but is a reminder of our childhood. The crepe suzette is something everyone should order and witness being prepared at your table but would definitely recommend for food and nostalgic value, and the 360 view of Durban is always amazing.

    What an experience! You have to experience this at least once in your lifetime. Especially the Chateaubriand Bearnaise for two where QUALITY met with QUANTITY....WOW...what a meal! People 'eat' with their eyes first and then eat with their mouth...and when both concur...what can I say...just superb! Desserts were awesome home made and absolutely delicious!..so seldom these days you get a good dessert (or a few) made in house, not mass produced...good quality ingredients were used and you could taste it. Service was friendly and very efficient. Took my son their for his 18th birthday and it was just such a treat from start to finish.

    Awesome experience all round. I even got accompanied to my uber after my dinner after a request because I felt unsafe alone at night. All the staff was super nice. I loved the unique experience. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Durban.

    I've been coming to Roma restaurant for many years, smaller groups and bigger groups, in sunshine and thunderstorms. But always an indredible experience, the view, the warm welcome & the service. And than the food: just great! Sincerely one of the highlights and most memorable experiences of our trip to Southafrica.
