This legendary exclusive revolving restaurant was officially opened in February 1973. The Roma was born from a concept pioneered by Bartholoeo Ribero, Turi and Gino Leopardi. Now proudly owned by the Reelin Group and managed by the Leopardi brothers. We are proud to say that we are the only genuine revolving restaurant in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd of its kind in the world. Roma Revolving Restaurant also boasts the unique feature, as two others do, of a revolving window and floor area! The restaurant is situated on the 32nd Level of the John Ross House overlooking the whole of Durban and surrounding areas with excellent sea and bay views.

    An Experience Like No Other at Roma Revolving Restaurant Last night we went on our very first Date Night since Frits was born, and we had the privilege of spending it at Roma Revolving Restaurant in Umhlanga. I have just one word for this place: WOW! From the moment we walked in, the service and friendliness were absolutely outstanding. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable, even accommodating us with our baby and his pram – something that meant so much to us. And then the food… It was like something out of a storybook! Every bite melted in our mouths – perfectly prepared, beautifully plated, and full of flavor. And then came the dessert… I honestly have no words! It was fantasmagorical – breathtakingly delicious, decadent, and simply unforgettable! The view alone is an experience – overlooking the entire Umhlanga and Durban skyline, with all the city lights and the harbor sparkling at night. It truly felt like something out of a fairytale, a moment we’ll never forget. We were so impressed that we even extended our vacation just so we could go back one more time before heading home. If you’re ever in Umhlanga, this restaurant is an absolute must. It’s more than just a meal – it’s an experience that will capture your heart and your taste buds!
