This legendary exclusive revolving restaurant was officially opened in February 1973. The Roma was born from a concept pioneered by Bartholoeo Ribero, Turi and Gino Leopardi. Now proudly owned by the Reelin Group and managed by the Leopardi brothers. We are proud to say that we are the only genuine revolving restaurant in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd of its kind in the world. Roma Revolving Restaurant also boasts the unique feature, as two others do, of a revolving window and floor area! The restaurant is situated on the 32nd Level of the John Ross House overlooking the whole of Durban and surrounding areas with excellent sea and bay views.

We felt rushed to order at first - food was delicious and the restaurant was busy, so the service was a bit slack! We have had better experiences there before.

The food was absolutely amazing, our waiter was so good and so friendly. The view was breathtaking. It's an expensive menu but totally worth it. Would absolutely do it again.

While the wait staff was great and friendly the time it took for our meal was a little too long. Over an hour and half, one order was wrong so had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes for it to be delivered. Only had mains and pudding which took almost 3 hours. Didnt have time for coffee. Was a too late.

Service whilst good , food was absolutely awful . Presentation of food was poor, quality and taste even worse. We ordered the peri peri prawns with chips and the sole princess. The prawns was tasteless and the peri peri was more of a sweet and chillie chutney . Crushed chilies was requested - tasted worse than the cream spinach - in fact the crushed chilies looked like cream spinach but was tasteless . The sole was not a sole - it was probably in my opinion a hake fillet ( square ) and was so bland that I had to incorporate the butternut into my every bite. Dole usually had a middle bone that runs the length of the fish but this was not the case with my meal. I have eaten the sole princess there before and this was definitely not a sole on my plate. I usually visit Roma because of the view and not for the food . However this time I brought a friend from a different province whose never been to Roma ( praying and hoping the food would be better from my last experience) how ever the food was even worse . Her meal cost 325 rands and she probably only ate one prawn and we had to take the meal away to give it to the homeless kids on the street . Bad bad bad poor quality tasteless food. I don’t think I would ever do another visit. And I seriously don’t think the food would ever improve as it’s been on a decline on my previous few visits .
