The Blue Room at Grub & Vine is our live music and cocktail lounge that pays homage to the soulful sounds of jazz and the blues. A collaborative venture between Grub & Vine's Chef Patron Matt Manning and well-known jazz artist Buddy Wells, the lounge also sports a state-of-the-art recording studio, where you'll catch musicians in action from time to time.

Located on the ground floor of 103 Bree Street, the Blue Room features a bespoke cocktail menu - with delicious concoctions such as the 'Ella Fizzgerald' (gin, lime, rhubarb, fennel and Brut MCC) and 'Muddy Waters' (Bourbon, dry sherry, vanilla maple and naartjie) - as well as a delectable selection of small plates for guests to nibble on.

The Blue Room is open for lunch from Monday - Friday, brunch on Saturdays and tapas and cocktails at night, while live performances from some of the country's top jazz, soul and blues artists will be a regular evening occurrence.

Phoned in advance to combine two booking and add an extra person. Was promised a call back which I didn’t get. Went to the restaurant to arrange beforehand. Was told it would be sorted out. Arrived on the night and nothing had been done. There is no atmosphere until the band starts. We had a big table so ate off the tapas menu. The dishes aren’t easily shareable. The wine menu is very expensive. R650 for the cheapest bottle of MCC. Got charged for a more expensive bottle of MCC. The band was great and It’s a nice idea but was unfortunately a bit underwhelming

I absolutely love Grub and Vine. It is always my go-to special occasion night out. The food and drink is superb, the atmosphere isn't fussy, and I always feel so taken care of when I'm there. I had my last-night-in-Cape Town celebration at The Blue Room and was dazzled by the intimate venue and the overall ambience. A few folks from the table ventured upstairs, and Matt Manning welcomed us so graciously. Mo Music's jazz band was fantastic. Hands down, the highlight of the night. They completely blew the room away. If it weren't for the brilliant jazz set, we would've been a little less impressed. Granted, it was a full house, but our waiter kept forgetting our orders and overall neglected the table. I had to ask a multiple times for (delicious) drink and food orders. At one point, when the band was on break, there was chatter that the waiters were in a fight outside. It was all a little off putting. I hate to leave a negative review, but given that I recommend this establishment to my clients I do want to make my concerns known. I understand that a packed house can be overwhelming, and sometimes people just aren't feeling their best. I am so thrilled that the restaurant industry is back up and thriving, and I understand that some kinks are still being worked out. Overall, it was still a wonderful experience, and I will most definitely be visiting again.

I understand the wine is from a hand selected few unique wines but it isn’t necessary to make your cheapest wine over R400. We also ordered 2 portions of gnocchi and there were 3 pieces of gnocchi on each plate. Which is ridiculous for R95 each. The service was very good though

Just was not aware that 2nd session was an extra R50. Felt we already paid R150 and this shd have been enough for the whole show.
