Was quite disappointed with our visit to Cheverells Farm. We drove all the way from Durbanville, my sister from Hermanus and my father from Gansbaai for a birthday lunch. The service was extremely poor. Had to get up a couple of times to either get thinigs for our table or get the waitress to come to the table in order to get service and the restaurant was not busy at all. The wines are extremely overpriced. We ordered a bottle of Almenkerk Rose billed at R325 a bottle but its sold at the wine farm which is close by for R190. There was only one portion of biltong nibbles available when we wanted to order 2. The meal portions are very small for what you pay but the taste of the food at least was good. The venue is so beautiful it's a pity the experience was not the same. They did however spoil us with a slice of birthday cake which was a nice touch but by then already had a bad taste in my mouth on the overall experience.

The Cheverells Farm Shed responded on Mon 22 Jun 26:
Dear Carla, Thank you for your feedback and for choosing to visit us. We appreciate your patronage and understand that many of our guests travel considerable distances to dine with us. For that reason, it is especially important to us that every guest enjoys a memorable experience. We are sorry to hear that your visit did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify a few points. Our wine prices are regularly reviewed against those of comparable restaurants and are in line with standard restaurant pricing. In addition, your table was permitted to bring your own wine, which we were happy to accommodate. Throughout your visit, our service team made every effort to ensure that you were enjoying your experience. Your waitress expressed concern that not everything seemed quite right, which prompted both management and ownership to personally step in and visit your table to check whether there was anything we could assist with. At no point were any specific concerns raised with us that would have allowed us the opportunity to address them during your meal. We are proud of the consistently high standard of hospitality we strive to provide and are grateful that this is reflected in the feedback we receive from the vast majority of our guests. While we respect your right to share your experience, we feel it is important that readers understand that our team made every effort to engage with your table and ensure your satisfaction. Feedback from our guests is always carefully considered, and we continually strive to refine and improve the experience we offer. Thank you again for your visit and for taking the time to share your perspective. We wish you all the best and appreciate the opportunity to have hosted you.

What a gem! Situated on a beautiful pear and apple farm, overlooking the orchard and hills in the distance. Oh, yes, I went there for lunch ..... the food was incredible, the service impeccable. Warm and cosy inside with a log fire to keep the chilly wind outside at bay. A must to visit if you are in the area.
