Exceptional food, brilliant service and an outstanding setting. Well done to The Hohenhort and thank you too Claudia for accommodating our delayed arrival due to a delayed flight out of Johannesburg!

We were there for an anniversary lunch - and the experience overall was great, but let down perhaps only by our choice in mains. The atmosphere and property are breathtakingly beautiful - as expected for a grand old dame. We ordered the fish cakes and crispy calamari starters, which were both exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented. For mains, we both had the lamb bobotie. It underwhelmed in flavor and was small for the price. I understand it is created for a more European palette, and therefore not particularly spicy - but it was so bland, we needed to season. The potato samosas it came with were good. We didn’t have desert, but the presentation of the few I saw served around us looked magnificent. The alcohol-free drink options were somewhat limited. We’d definitely go back - just not for the bobotie.
