Your Italian Restaurant in Cape Town

The Cousins Trattoria was an idea created by Andrea, Simone and Luca who wanted to bring their knowledge and passion for food to Cape Town.

These cousins from Romagna, on the Adriatic coast of Italy, have lived in (and loved) Cape Town for many years, but felt there was not a place in the city where they could find the simple, authentic Italian food they had grown up with, in their homeland.

So joining their skills, they opened The Cousins Trattoria, where Andrea makes fresh pasta every morning, using only fresh and natural ingredients, just like Mama does! Bread and tiramisu are baked daily; great coffee and a passion for service makes this easy going place a heaven for the senses.

    Real Italian restaurant It felt like a trip to Italy. When you enter in the restaurant, you are welcome with a buena serra. You can already smell the good food, as the air is smelling melted cheese or sauces. I had a very good table, in a corner. I had space and view on what was happening. Foodwise, no doubt that they are using fresh and quality ingredient. As a starter, I had the special on the board - The artichoke tart. If you like artichoke - which is my case - you can definitely taste it. After that, I was already full, but wanted to try the Cousins pasta, stirred in the cheese wheel. Delicious, but super rich and filling. I obviously couldn't finish and asked to take away the left over. I would have loved to try the pistachio dessert, but I couldn't eat anymore, so I picked the Lemone gelato, thinking that it could help me to digest. Tasty and refreshing. Service was professional and friendly. Atmosphere was warm and cosy, with a good lighting and personal pictures on the walls, giving a reel human touch. It was a good discovery.

    There was a group of eight of us and everyone thought their meal was outstanding. Service was great and very friendly.. We thought the restaurant was very good food at a very good price would definitely come back.

    It's always a great experience at The Cousins. The signature dish is a must and we also had the truffle gnocchi, which was melt in the mouth excellent and the seafood squid ink pasta - also very yum. Never disappointed!
