"If food is the music of love, play on" ...Shakespeare did not write this, a ginger did!

Welcome to the The Fat Ginger Gastrobar, take a load off, Mi Casa Su Casa. Here we create theater with food, this is your home away from home, we are literally a local community center with a bar.

Originally known as the Keg & Beagle est 1998, The Fat Ginger was born 1 Feb 2020 after owner Chris Williams (the original Fat Ginger) who purchased the business in 2005 decided to change the direction from the traditional English pub restaurant into a the more popular Gastro Pub trend. A Gastropub is a hybrid restaurant serving notable wines, beers & cuisine. You can expect the perfect balance of range, good pricing, ambience and entertainment!

With 17 beer taps the Fat Ginger is most certainly a venue designed for social drinks, an amazing array of tapas, burgers, grills & cocktails. The venue is located at the lower level parking in the Linksfield Terrace Shopping Center just off the N3 Linksfield Turnoff.

This was our first visit to the Fat Ginger. On arrival the one waitress (long dark hair) was quite rude. She assumed we hadn't booked and told us to move to a table that was outside. She was abrupt and unfriendly. Not great for first time there. Once we confirmed our booking she apologised and moved us back to our original table. But the lady who looked after our table was much nicer and I enjoyed her friendliness. The service was very slow and we waiting a long time for our starters and our mains. Some people who arrived after us received their food before us. My order was incorrect (burger arrived with a bun and fries when I asked for a mushroom burger and zuchini chips). The manager did rectify it so I had to wait longer for my food (which was cold by then but I ate it anyway). My husbands pie arrived after that (by then my sons had eaten their burgers). My mother in law didn't eat her food because her burger was ice cold on arrival. They did apologise. They ran out of mousse (dessert) so only 1 of my sons received a dessert. The manager was very apologetic and said their kitchen was in a bit of a quandry that day. We didn't complain while we were there as I could see the manager was very aware. Unfortuantely not a great experience for Fathers Day so I doubt we will go back there.

We went for the steak and bone marrow special which is great value for money however the steak had quite a bit of sinew otherwise it was great. Waffle dessert is much bigger than expected but absolutely delicious
