The legendary Grill Room has been renowned for its fine dining and outstanding cuisine for almost 70 years.

Under the culinary leadership of the Executive Chef, the menu is an inspired combination of classic favourites, created by Bea Tollman, president and founder of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, the restaurants Signature Dishes and contemporary creations, inspired by current global trends.

Classic Grill Room touches include the authentic Gueridon service, where food is prepared and presented at the individual diners table and the Classic 1920s Hors d Oeuvres Trolley, with an extensive range of 18 ‘old world appetizers.

With over 50 years of experience, Maitre‘d Hendry Pakiri, still presides over the elegant dining room.

    I recently enjoyed an exceptional evening at The Oyster Box. We thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the hospitality staff, and our wonderful server shared many stories with us throughout the evening—among them, charming tales of Skabagena. We were particularly touched to learn that she was even allowed in the wine cellar. Our evening was nearly perfect, yet it would have been truly perfect had our beloved pet Gio been able to join us. We were made aware of the pet restriction for this area, and I understand that animals are welcomed throughout the hotel with the exception of only two rooms—which speaks volumes about the inclusive and compassionate ethos of The Oyster Box. Gio has accompanied us to wine cellars in other establishments without incident, and we would have been more than happy to pay for any potential breakage. He could have simply sat quietly in the corner—perhaps even the very spot where Skabagena once sat. I am aware that The Tollman family are great animal lovers, and this legacy of compassion is evident in the stories that live on within your walls. As certain special occasions come around only once, I humbly request that exceptions for beloved pets be considered for private experiences in the future. The bond between guests and their companions is deeply meaningful, and the opportunity to share these milestone moments together would elevate an already extraordinary experience to something truly unforgettable.

    The service was extremely poor. We waited a long time before our order was taken, and even then, I had to request assistance. Our waiter was engaged in a lengthy conversation with another party and appeared to ignore us, which eventually required me to call the manager. The food arrived and was well presented; however, the mussels were of very poor quality and were discarded once we returned home. The remaining dishes were acceptable but lacked flavour. I have visited The Grill Room on several occasions in the past, all of which were positive experiences. Unfortunately, this visit fell well below the standard I have come to expect, and as a result, I will not be returning. Thank you.
