At Urban Playground, we’re all about crafting simple yet flavorful food that tells a story. From the creative minds behind Sense of Taste Chef School, Debs and Chef Peter Ayub, along with their son, Sous Chef Byron Thebus, and our talented team of chefs, we are a small but dynamic group redefining Gourmet Street Food.

Urban Playground offers sustainable, ethical, seasonal, and no-waste (nose-to-tail) dishes, crafted with love and care. We proudly support local producers and businesses, bringing their ingredients to life in our innovative, edgy open kitchen. It’s a loud, fun chef’s playground where every dish is designed to blow your taste buds away.

Community First
Through our Sense of Taste Chef School Feeding Program, we help fight hunger in our local community, feeding over 1000 people weekly. Every meal we serve helps support and uplift those in need. Fighting hunger one meal at a time.

    I was just disappointed that I booked for the chefs table and wasn't seated as requested. The food was really good and service great. Really enjoyed the experience. It was a lovely relaxing atmosphere. I would like to go back to try other things on the menu My hubby had the Moroccan Tagine and wouldn't share , My lamb kofta a bit salty,but very tasty.Really enjoyed the Boboti Spring Rolls and The Mexican Tacos flavourful.

    The food. And service was outstanding and my wife and I have both agreed it was one of the best meals we have had in Capetown.

    We loved our time at Urban Playground. Our food was delicious and the helpings were generous. I would like to see more variety of Meat and Chicken on the menu as we don't eat Pork. The Chef and his staff were wonderful and so friendly. It was great to be able to park in the secure parking lot. We will definitely come back again.

    This is the real deal . Nothing pretentious however wonderful atmosphere with an urban street food vibe . The food is exceptional, far exceeding one's expectations. This is a must .

    Was our 1st time visiting Urban Playground. And wow,the service was excellent and the food was amazing. It was our wedding anniversary and we has special music and balloons at our table. The staff were friendly,we will definitely be back
