The Culinary Collective: Dine in the company of Franschhoek’s top chefs & artisans

by | 11 October 2022

Calling all food and wine lovers! The Franschhoek Valley is offering you a rare opportunity to dine in the company of some of South Africa’s best chefs – Reuben Riffel, David Schneider, Darren Badenhorst, Richard Carstens and Chris Erasmus.

While exclusive, this relaxed lunch aims to showcase Franschhoek’s top artisans, winemakers and produce, giving guests the chance to discuss the origins of good food with the valley’s most respected chefs and suppliers.

“A new showcase of chef brilliance and an ode to all things local hits centre stage for our historic town.” – Franschhoek Valley of Dreams

Set for Friday, 28 October 2022, the first annual Culinary Collective event is sure to be a highlight on this year’s culinary calendar – and one not to be missed. We cannot wait and look forward to seeing you there.

Franschhoek Culinary Collective

Chefs Reuben Riffel (Reuben’s Franschhoek & Reuben’s & Co Cafe), David Schneider (Chef’s Warehouse at Maison), Darren Badenhorst (Dusk, Le Coin Français & Le Chêne), Richard Carstens (Arkeste) and Chris Erasmus (Foliage)

Five course menu & wine pairing

With an abundance of top-quality produce right on their doorstep, the Franschhoek Culinary Collective sets out to highlight the valley’s best local suppliers and ingredients. The menu has been carefully planned to champion seasonal produce, pairing each course with fine wines from some of the valley’s most esteemed wine estates.

To kick-off the festivities, guests will be welcomed with a glass of Haute Cabriere Cap Classique and a selection of canapés prepared by Chef Christiaan of Leopard’s Leap. From there, diners will be treated to a 5-course celebration of all things local. From the bread course, to starters and mains, followed by dessert, each plate will be presented by the chef himself and a local artisan or supplier.
