The Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, located in the trendy harbour town of Kalk Bay, is situated in False Bay, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Surrounded by the rolling waves, the restaurant complex of terraced dining areas, is nestled into the tidal pool walls, and offers visitors an unforgettable and truly unique seaside dining experience. Built in 1939, the Brass Bell’s humble beginning as a council-run “Tea Room” is a far cry from the bustling complex of waterfront dining venues that it is today.

Brass Bell’s owner, Tony White has pioneered the ongoing development of the Brass Bell Restaurants and Pubs, and together with his dynamic hospitality team, has turned the Brass Bell from a once quaint seaside bistro into a beloved household name, boasting an impressive series of 9 different dining and events venues.

The location and splendour of this magical place has captured the imagination and hearts of tourists and locals alike, and it is now a world renowned and well-loved hotspot; welcoming guests with our warm hospitality and superb menu selections.

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at Seaweed and salt. The kitchen was closed and they were using the Brass Bell menu main kitchen for dishes. This resulted in cold food being served. Moreover the quality of the food was terrible and simply unappealing. I realize this may be a one-off as on previous occasions we have enjoyed our meals. To make matters worse we had foreign clients from the USA and it was extremely embarrassing. We spent over R 2000 and hardly anyone ate their food. The calamari was old, the sushi had browned , the battered fish was not fresh. Only the Kingklip seemed to find favour with my one client. The restaurant was vlearly trying to limp along and failed miserably. The poor waiters tried his best and managed to get a deduction for the calamari main, but quite frankly we should not have paid a cent! The restaurant is well advised not to try bandaid cuisine and rather just close pending its kitchen being remedied.
