In 1968 the property was acquired by Historical Homes to be restored - later leased as a restaurant. During 2016 the Rupert family initiated a full restoration, today De Volkskombuis operates once again as a restaurant serving patrons within Stellenbosch.

    The Springbok and the lamb ribs were melt-in-your-mouth soft and juicy and very flavourful! My guests from America thoroughly enjoyed their lunch. This has become my go-to place for lunch whenever I have guests on a Winelands tour!
